Ore., Jan. 16. ; Possibilities of a hardwood mill for the Grants Pass area were under discussion today, : when Harrv J. Hildeburn of ! Roseburg conferred with H. C. I Obye and C. U. Cameron of the Siskiyou National Forest, Mayor J. A. Wharton, and C. W. Thorn berry, Chamber of Commerce manager. Hildeburn has been a mill man for many years, owning a fir mill until recently near Yoncalia. , "Grants Pass is as good a bet for a hardwood mill to handle oak as any place in the country," he said today. Hildeburn stated that in addition to the ouantities of oak : scattered about Josephine county, alder and maple are also avail-, able. He was advised by Obye and Cameron that there is sufficient ; hardwood to suport a sawmill, but that the problem will lie in transportation to such a mill, as the timber is scattered about a half-dozen areas In the county. Sued Husband Ordered Not to Molest Family An order restraining Lester McDaniel, Sutherlin, from mo lesting his wife or children was issued by Judge Carl E. Wim berly yesterday, as McDaniel's wife, Mrs. I-aVerne Elizabeth McDaniel, filed suit for divorce. Judge Wimberly also ordered McDaniel to appear January 23 to show cause w hy he should not pay $75 a month support money for his children, Iiernis Kay, 4. and Tona Elizabeth, li. during the pendency of the divorce suit; S100 attorney's fees to enable his wife to prosecute the suit, and to pay court costs of S-5. The McDaniel's were married at Virginia City, Nevada, June 11. 1940.
