Miss I Mary Nancv Roberts, lovely daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie E. Roberts, became the bride of Major Andrew Holmes King, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. King, of Atlanta, Georgia, Wednesday eve ning, October 3, at the home of the bride's parents, 817 South Pine street, Roseburg. Dr. Morris H. Roach, pastor of the First rresoyienan church, pertormed the ceremtmv at seven o'clock in the presence of relatives and close friends. Bouquets of tall white gladioli and fern, flanked by candelabra holding white tapers, formed the attractive improvised altar. Pre ceding the ceremony, Mrs. Homer Grow, played softly on the piano and Miss Betty Strong lighted the candles. Mrs. Grow played the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin for the bridal partv to take its place. Miss Betty Jane Roberts, sis ter of the bride, was maid of honor, and was charming in a rose-colored marquisette gown fashioned with a circular skirt having insets of lace. She car ried a colonial bouquet of white gladioli and fern and wore a head dress of stephanotis. Following the maid of honor, the bride appeared on the stair way dressed in a beautiful wed ding gown of ivory satin fash ioned with a shirred bodice, wrist length sleeves, sweetheart neck line and full length train. Inser tions of lace formed a panel effect from the shoulders to the MRS. C. E. SMITH IS HOSTESS TO PINOCHLE CLUB ' Mrs. C. E. Smith very gra ciously entertained her pinochle club at a delightful eight o'clock dessert-supper at her attractive home in Laurelwood Wednesday evening. Cecil Brunner roses formed a pretty rnotif for the table. Covers were placed for Mrs. Jack Fincham. a guest, and Mrs. Rav Puckett, Mrs. Les Irvin, Mrs. Harold Cacy. Mrs. Robert Snod dy, Mrs. Richard Young. Miss Frances Hutchinson and the host ess. Mrs. Smith. Pinochle was enjoyed during the pleasant evening hours with Mrs. Fincham winning the high score prize. MRS. A. D. PARR IS HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB TUESDAY EVENING Mrs. A. D. Parr very gracious ly entertained her bridge club at her lovely home on East I-ane street Tuesday evening. Zinnias and asters formed a pretty motil for the occasion. Contract bridge was enjoyed during the evening by the fol lowing members: Mrs. Kenneth Bailev, Mrs. Frederick Chapman. Jr., Mrs. S. J. Major King's best man was Franklin Wickham, of Roseburg. both having recently returned from overseas service. Flower arrangements for the weddine and reception were in charge of Mrs. Clair K. Allen. The serving table, cuveied by an exquisite white handmade lace cloth, was centered with an ar rangement of peach-colored gladi oli and fern. Mi's. J. R. Wharton assisted by serving the bride's cake and Mrs. J. E. Dent served the punch. As the bride ascended the stair way before going away, she threw her bouquet which was caught by Miss Virginia Koller. Following a honeymoon on the Orepon coast. Major and Mrs. King will go to Atlanta, Georga. The bride was graduated from Roseburg High school In 1940 and from North Texas State Teachers college at Denton, Texas, In 1944. She was dietician In the Orange, Texas, public schools the last year. J he Dritiegroom, wno servea with the 103rd division, was a staff officer with the 411th Infan try regiment serving in the Eu ropean theatre of operations. He received his High school and col lege education in Georgia. I NTER-SE STUDY CLUB MEETS AT MELLIS HOME TUESDAY AFTERNOON Mrs.' Bruce Mellis was a most gracious hostess Tuesday, when she entertained the InterSe Study club at a delightful salad luncheon at one o'clock at her at tractive home on Glenn street. A beautiful lace cloth covered the table, which w-as centered with an artistic arrangement of fall flowers. Covers were placed for: Mrs. Anna Stever. a guest, Mrs. George Churchill. PARENT-TEACHER PARTY ENJOYED AT METHODIST CHURCH ON FRIDAY The children of the Junior de partment of the Methodist Sun day school entertained at a very delightful teacher-parent party Friday afternoon in the church parlors. The program included: group sing; short talk explaining the Sunday school work by the su perintendent of the department, Mrs. Fred L.
