Clow, 76, retired rail road engineer, lormer Roseburg resident, died in Eugene Sunday following a short illness. Born at Dallas, Ore., May 10, 1S69, he was married at Junction City, June 6, 1893, to Elizabeth Hylnnd. He began work for the Southern Pacltic In 1900 and retired In Oc tober 1937. He was employed out of Roseburg for the greater part of the 35 years of railroad service residing In Eugene In re rent years. He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Roseburg. Surviving arc his wife; a son, Archie R. Clow, Eugene; a daugh ter, Mrs. Prudrnee Resamnn, Los Angeles; three grandchil dren, one great-grandchild, one brother and three sisters. Have a Society and Clubs By LOTUS KNIGHT PORTER CALAPOOIA LADIES CLUB HAS ALL-DAY MEETING The Calapooia Ladies club en joyed a most delightful meeting at their clubhouse Wednesday with Mrs. Bertha Carlile. Mrs. Lucille Starr and Mrs. Dollie Ur ben graciously serving as host esses. The president, Mrs. Opal Mun son, conducted the business meet ing and plans were made to clean the clubhouse at the next meet ing. It was also decided to estab lish an exchange department where members may bring sur- ?lus or outgrown clothing, also ruits, vegetables, plants, etc., to exchange or sell. The proceeds are to be used for club expenses. New Pollyanna names are to be exchanged at the next meet ing, Aug. 15, at which time the hostesses will be Mrs. Madge Mil ler, Mrs. Alice Manning and Mrs. Venetta Riggs. Following the business meeting a shower of miscellaneous gifts was presented to Mrs. Madge Mil ler who recently lost her home by lire. Quilting, Red Cross sewing and bazaar sewing occupied the after noon hours. HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING The W. S. of C. S. of the Dil lard Community church met Thursday, July 26, at the home of Mrs., Ray McAlpine oh Kent creek. A delicious potluck lunch eon was served picnic style under the shade trees. The business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Mercy Buell, with Mrs. Caroline Kennedy conduct ing the devotional service. A beautiful poem was recited by Mrs. Estelle Wallace. Following the treasury report, It was de cided to fill barrels of jars for charity. Letters which had been received in regard to the adoption of a war refugee were read and plans will be completed at the next meeting.
