Potluck supper wUl be enjoyed. BUR DONE-THOMPSON WEDDING SOLEMNIZED SATURDAY AFTERNOON The lovely wedding of Donna Burdone and Joe Thompson, both of Roseburg, was solemnized at 4 p. m. Saturday, June 30, at the bride's residence, 534 South Jackson street. Dr. Charles Edwards officiated. The bride wore a lovely gray suit with rose accesories. . The matron of honor was Mrs. C. C. King of Sutherlin, a girl hood friend of the bride. C. C. King was best man. The home was beautifully dec orated with summer flowers by Mrs. H. A. Canaday. The bride and groom cut the beautiful wedding cake at the re ception following the wedding. The cake was made by Mrs. Cecilia McGrotty. Mrs. Kenneth Bushey, daughter of the bride, poured and Donna Jean Bushy, , grandaughter of Mrs. Thomp son, served the punch. SCOTT WILLIAMS HONORED AT PARTY Mrs. Scott Williams of Corval lis, formerly of Roseburg, was honored at a progressive party Monday. A lovely eleven o'clock break fast was served at the O. R. Hess home with Mrs. O. R. Hess and Mrs. Marshall Pengra as co hostesses. An afternoon of bridge followed at the A. F. Henninger home in Laudelwood with Mrs. Scott Williams .receiving the guest prize and Mrs. Fredrick J. Porter winning the high score prize. A five o'clock tea was en joyed at the Chapman home with Mrs. Fredrick Chapman Jr. and Mrs. L. K. Fies as co-hostesses. At eight o'clock a fried chicken dinner was partaken of in the garden of the S. O'Doherty, and Walter A. Durch, U. S. N., son of Mrs. P. A. Durch and the late Mr. Durch of Roseburg. The wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. Wm. Quig ley, pastor of St. John's, who also said the nuptial mass. Rev. Wm. Power was present in the sanc tuary. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a gown of white slipper satin and tulle. Her veil of Illusion attached to a tiara of seed pearls, fell gracefully the length of Hie train. The bride carried orchids and white carna tions. Mrs. Charles Tobin, matron of honor, was gowned in dusty rose tulle with flowered tulle hat, and carried lavender sweet peas and yellow rosebuds. The bridesmaids, Miss Kathleen O'Doherty, sister of the bride, and Miss Caroline Griffin wore match ing gowns and caps of pale green net, and carried bouquets of pink sweet peas and yellow rosebuds. The altar was very beautifully decorated with calla lilies, mock orange blossoms and pink carna tions and combined with the bright sunlight filtering through stained glass to make an impres sive picture of the beautiful church. Under the direction of Mrs. Wm. O'Doherty, mother of the bride, the Diocesan Women's Choral group rendered the music for the ceremony. A breakfast at the Edmond Meany hotel followed the church ceremony. In the evening a rereption was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Edward Glennon and Mrs. B. J. Cavanaugh poured,; assited by Mrs. R. J. Nelson, Mrs. Charles Meyer, Bettyann Nelson, Margaret Glennon and Mrs. John H. Griffin. Out of town guests from Vic toria, B. The floor length gown of cream col ored nuns-veiling trimmed with old lace was fashioned with bal loon styled sleeves. The five-yard hemline and sleeves were both backed with crinoline. The groom's suit was of the conven tional black broadcloth. Mr. Lonmis and: Mrs.- Minnie Brown preceded the bribe and groom in the marchito the t'ible, where Mrs. Gertrude Hatfield In troduced the couples before the elderly bride, who was gowned in a lovely black lace divss adorned with white orchids and a strain! of pearls, cut the beatitiiul wedding cake. The yard and table decorations were in charge v of Mrs. R. L. Mathews and Mrs. Harry Hat field. The table was covered with a lovely satin damask iinen cloth, embroidered and hemsi itched by Mrs. Brown for her hope chest fifty years ago.
