The table was very nrei ty with its white linen cloth cen tered with a low bouquet of flowers. MARSHALL GILCHRIST HONORED AT PARTY SUTHFRL'.N In compliment to Marshall Gilchrist, a lovely farewell party was arranged by the Bible school of the Christian church Sundav evening. During1 the' days of the Great Physician, ninety percent of the lepers healed wore guilty of the sin of ingratitude. And do we not find that same sin and pos sibly in the same proportion in the world today? How many parents continue to do for their children year after year when they show not a bit of apprecia tion. How many high school and college young people feel any gratitude to the commun ity which has educated them? How many are eager to help the church, even when thev acknowledge that it has helped to make the community in which they live. How many people are truly grateful to God for His manifold bless ings day alter day, and how "sharper than a seinent's tooth it is to have a thankless child. Win ston Is. stationed In the Philip pines with the famous "Flying Circus", B-24 heavv bombardment group. Since joining this group, he has flown an number of long range bombing missions as a B-24 pilot and airnlane cimmnder over Formosa, French Indo China China and Japanese-held positions in the Philippines. Lt. Winston was formerly an Oregon lawyer, a member of the Oregon State Bar association, and practiced law at Corvailis, Oregon. He Is a grad- bond selling campaign in the liosehurg business district. Arrangements for the event were conducted today by John E. Skofstad, district manager; D. O. Lt. Winson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Winston, re siding in Roseburg. Dr. Leon E. Story Dies At Veterans Hospital Dr. Leon E. Story, 65, Port land phvsician and veteran of World War I, died at the Vet erans hospital Tuesday. He was born ip New Hampshire July 8, 1897, and served as first lieuten ant, medical corps, during the First World war. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Story, of Port land. The body was forwarded last night by the Douglas Funeral home to Portland, where funeral services will be held. Vital Statistics 80RN CONN Born to Mr. and Mrs. H. W.
