MARCH 21. 1945 Society and Clubs By LOTUS KNIGHT PORTER EVERGREEN GRANGE HAS MEETING MONDAY Evergreen grange No. 460 met at the hall Monday evening with W. O. Patterson, county deputy, giving a report on the work and increase in membership of other granges. New officers elected and installed included: Emery Baker, executive committee; Harry Har ryman, gate keeper; Laura Dc Gnath, Ceres, and Isabel Johnson, Flora. The lecturer's program Includ ed: group singing, reading on "Ireland." and the regular grange closing. Refreshments were serv ed by Mrs. John Lander, Mrs. George Winston and Mr. and Mrs. Stingley. The next regular meeting will be March 26. First and second de grees will be given candidates. Refreshments will be in charge of Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bartlctt and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bllger. FAREWELL PARTY 16 GIVEN MRS. ALLMAN CAMAS VALLEY Mrs. C. Hagen entertained at her home in honor of Mrs. Charles Allman, who is moving to Coquille. The rooms were decorated in hyacin ths, crocuses, daffodils and pussy willows. Games and visiting filled the hours. A gift from the Sunday School of a friendship plaque was presented to the honor guest. The hostess served delicious refresh ments from a lace covered table decorated with tall tapers and spring flowers. Those present were, Mrs. Charles Grouch, Mrs. Dave Thrush, Mrs. Emert, Mrs. Brown Wakefield, Mrs. M. A. Jones, Mrs. Ethel Brown and granddaughter, Rozelle Brown, Mrs. Bert Kroeel. I SURPRISE BIRTHDAY j DINNER GIVEN. SUNDAY Kjn-tiun, t surprise oirinaay dinner honoring Clyde Gardner on his forty-third anniversary was enjoyed at the W. D. Van Horn ranch home Sunday. Pink and green candles lighted the birthday cake baked by Mrs. Van Horn, while the second decorated birthday cake was made by Mrs. H. Wilson and Mrs. D. Stewart. The dinner was served buffet style. Bicycle riding and visiting were en.ioyed during the after noon.Gifts were presented to Mr. Gardner from: Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Van Horn, Joyce Everts, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Woods, Herbert and Betty Woods, Mrs. Wanda Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilson and daughters, Anna Lou and Zonell, Mr. and Mrs. Edford Hubbard and daughters, Ada, Rosa and Helen; Mr. and Mrs. Delwin Stewart and sons, Arnold and Carl, and Mrs. Clyde Gard ner and sons, James and Marvin. DEMONSTRATION GIVEN AT MEETING AT GLIDE A meeting was held at the Glide grange hall on Wednesday afternoon with Miss Doris Mc Whorter giving a demonstration on the repairing of electrical. equipment. Those In attendance were: Mrs. Floyd Hickman, Mrs. Howard Melvin, Mrs. John Alexander, Mrs. Herbert Connlne, Mrs Melvin. Mrs. J. L. Casebeer. Mrs.1 Geo. Casebeer, Miss Ada wood, Mrs. Carl Messing and Mrs. Clyde Gardner. The next meeting win be on April 11th with Miss McWhorter demonstrating the prcperatlon of foods for lockers. A 12:00 o'clock pot-luck luncheon will be served. CANYONVILLE O. E. 8. HOLDS MEETING .CANYONVILLE Oregon O. E. S. Canyonville met Wednes day evening. Gladys Michaels, W. M., presiding. Peggy Hanson and Lee Roy Hanson were init iated into the order. Practice for the district meeting of March 30, at Riddle was held. Among the visitors present were some from Valentine chap ter and Mrs. Amy Eslow, a mem ber, who had not been here for a law years. She Is now living in Seattle witn ner uaugmer, Mrs. wynona Han. STEDFAST CLASS TO MEET ON THURSDAY The Stedfast class of the First Presbyterian church will meet at a 12 o'clock potluck luncheon at the church parlors Thursday.
