funeral of their mother, Mrs. Car
oline Frederick, last Tuesday at
the Methodist church. Huey, an
other son, Who Is at Anchorage,
Alaska, was unable to attend.
The community was shocked
Thursday morning to hear of the
tragic death of Mrs. Maud Sitter,
postmaster at Myrtle Creek, who
had resigned and was teaching
school at Camas Valley. When
she failed to arrive at the school-
house some of the patrons In
quired into the matter and found
her dead at her home. She is the
mother of three sons; one lives in
Oakland, Calif., and was expect
ed to arrive Friday and one is In
the navy. The youngest Is a crip
ple. Mrs. Sitter taught three or

Mrs. Harriet Reilz of Lake Ge
neva. Wlscaiisin, is visiting in
Myrtle Creek with her slstcr-in-Iaw,
Mrs. Cora Stone, and her
nephew, Philip.
The first Thursday evening of
each month Is church night at the
local Church of Christ, and it is
the social meeting of the congre
gation. After a bountiful polluck
supper Is served, nn impromptu
program is presented.
Mr. and Mrs. George Aken, Sr.
have moved their house on Divi
sion street back and turned it ar
ound. While making the change
they moved out but will soon bei

Tuesday, for a week's visit with
their son-in-law and daughter and
their children, who are living in
the McGovern house east ot town.
Mrs. Dorothy Bates Schwieger
and baby son, Gary Lee, have
gone to Portland for a visit with
relatives. Mrs. Schwieger Is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. It.
Bates.

Coats. Glen has recently return
ed from a year in the South Paci
fic war theatre. He is well known
