It was an- nounced that Hazel Graham. As sociate Grand Matron, will be present at a special meeting, Tues day eve., Jan. 30, at which time She will give instructions. ROY SJOGREN IS HONORED ON BIRTHDAY MELROSE, Mrs. J. O. Backlund, entertained with a children's party at her home Sat urday afternoon, to honor the fifth birthday anniversary of Roy Sjogren, who makes his homo with Mr. and Mrs. Backlund, Roy received cards and presents from his friends. Games and visiting were en joyed until lato afternoon when Mrs. Backlund. presented Roy with a beautifully decorated cake, which was cut and served with It" cream to Rov Sjogren, guest of honor and to Donna Sundberg, Juanita Williams Dickey Sjogren, Donald Sundberg, Dennis Sjog ren, Mrs. Stanley Sjogren and Mrs. Carl Backlund. CONCERT ASSOCIATION MEMBERS TO HEAR FAMOUS HARPIST THURSDAY NIGHT Oh Thursday evening, Feb ruary 1st. the Community Con cert association will present Miss Mildred Dilling, world famous harpist, in concert at 8:15 o'clock at the Junior high school. Mem bers attending included Mrs. Minnie Lockwood, president, Mrs. Bert Mellius, vice-president, Mrs. John F. Brown, secretary, Mrs. Josie Smith, treasurer. NORTHSI DE SUNSHINE CLUB HAS MEETING Mrs. Margaret Lou Warford was a most gracious hostess last Thursday afternoon when she en tertained the members and guests of the Northsidc Sunshine club at her home on Flesser St. Mablc Patterson, president had charge of the business meeting at which time $2.00 was collected for the March of Dimes. Plans were completed for the food sale. Pollyanna presents were exchang ed and bingo was played alter the business meeting with Enore Fisher winning grand prize. Lovely refreshments were ser ved by the hostess to the follow ing: Mrs. Henry Hall, Mrs. Hicks and Mrs. Pollock guests; Mrs. Myrtella Emmitt, Mrs. Enore Fisher, Mrs. Mabel Patterson, Mrs. Margaret Pendergrass, Mrs. Mary Princen Miss Bernadine Princer, Mrs. Clara Steiwig, Mrs. Eva Wilkinson, Mrs. Stella Payne, Mrs. Eunice Sory Mrs. Hattie Perrin and .Mrs. Laura Mack, members. ROSEBURG CHAPTER TO MEET THURSDAY NIGHT Roseburg Chanter of Eastern Star will hold a short session at eight o'clock Thursday evening ! at the Masonic temple with the worthy matron, Mrs. G. C. GLENGARY SEWING CLUB TO HOLD MEETING The Glengary Sewing club will meet Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. McGinnis. All mem bers are urged to be present. Polio Fund Upped By Donation From Minnesota Woman Douglas county's mile of dimes for the polio fund, was extended a few more inches today with money sent from St. Cloud, Minn., by Mrs. Carrie E. Marston, for many years a News-Review com munity reporter at Fair Oaks. "I received the Roseburg News Review this mornin and read where you people were laying a mile of dimes on the sidewalks of Roseburg," Mrs. Marston wrote in a letter to Mayor W. F. Har ris." "I wish to help with the mile of dimes," she said, "by send ing my donation to you instead of sending it to the president. "My home is in Douglas coun ty, near Oakland, and I am very nroud that the people of Rose burg and surrounding country are doing so much to fight para lysis. At present I am living here in this large city of St. Cloud, Minn., but have not heard of them doing as much as you peo ple are dging out there." Election of Officers of Camp Fire Council Set Annual election of officers of the Roseburg Camp Fire council will be held Friday night, Feb. 2, at 7:30 o'clock nt he home of the president, Mrs. ITarrie W. Booth, in Laurel wood. A review of the last year's work will be made and plans for future activities will take place. Every member of the council has been requested to be present. Leaves Saturday Private Marshall Hunt left Saturday for Grants Pass to spend a few days visiting his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wharton, before going to Camp White army hos pital at Medford to report for futher treatment.
