Sgt. and Mrs. Melvln A, Hagood A wedding of much Interest In Roseburg is that of Miss Patricia Glenn, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Glenn, of Roseburg, and Sgt. Melvin A. Hagood, of Camp Bowie, Tex., son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin A. Hagood, of Ontario, Oregon, at Brownwood, Texas., at six-thirty o'clock at the parson age of the First Presbyterian church on December 18. Tall red tapers lighted and sprays of ivy were used in the decorations. Following the song, "I Love You Truly," the double ring ceremony was performed by the pastor of the church. The bricte was verv beautiful in an afternoon gown of powder blue with a fuschia hat. Her cor sage was of gardenias. The bride's mother was attractive in an ensemble of royal blue with matching accessories and a cor sage of Talisman rosebuds. Guests attending included the bride's -parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Glenn, of Roseburg; Lt. and Mrs. Jerry Hcrburger, of John Day, Ore.; Lt. and Mrs. Frank Knox, of Euuene, and Sgt. Jerry Sparlin, of Grants Pass. KEYSTONE CLUB HAS DELIGHTFUL MEETING AT SMITH HOME MONDAY The Methodist Keystone club held a delightful meeting Mon day evening at the Clifford Smith home in Laurelwood, when Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Lawrence Rand, Mrs. Harold McKay and Mrs. Or ville Dingier were hostesses at a lovely seven-thirty o'clock des sert supper. During the business meeting, reports were given by committee chairmen and plans were made for future activities of the club. The March of Dimes collection was taken as the club contributes to this cause yearly. Sewing and visiting were en 1oyed during the social hour. MELROSE GRANGE HAS INTERESTING MEETING ON TUESDAY EVENING Melrose grange met Tuesday night at the hall with a fine at tendance. The obligation was giv en to Mr. and Mrs. Chltwood and son, Harold, by Mrs. Fred Goff. John Trozellc, a Y. G. A. mem ber, was reported home on fur lough from the South Pacific war area. The very interesting meeting was followed by refreshments served by the home economics committee. (It lJ'.: k'"4 A 1 , Bowie, Texas. Following the ceremony, a love ly wedding supper was served at the Hotel Brownwood at a table decorated in the Christmas motif and tall red tapers. The bride and bridegroom will make their home in Brownwood, Texas, until the later is sent over seas, at which time the bride will return to Oregon State college to complete her senior vear in the school of home economics. The bride, who was graduated from Roseburg High school in 1941, has been outstanding and very prominent student at Ore gon State college the last lour years. Besides being an honor student, she is the first girl edi tor of the college newspaoer, The Barometer, a position, which she now holds. She is- a member of Sigma Kappa sororit"' Mortar Board and is president of Theta Sigma Phi, national journalism sorority. Prior . to entering the army, Sgt. Hagood was a student at Oregon State college and is affiliated with Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He is now in the ar mored field artillery at Camp ROSEBURG WOMAN'S CLUB MEMBERS SEW FOR RED CROSS TUESDAY AFTERNOON The Roseburg Woman's club met at the clubhouse Tuesday af ternoon to sew for the American Red Cross under the direction of the chairman, Mrs. Armour Mur dock. While the group sewed, Mrs. G. V. Wimbcrly, president, read several delightful poems from the book, "More Green Fingers." It j was announced that at the next I meeting of the club to be held I February 6 at a one-thirty o'clock dessert-luncheon at the club i house, an offering will be taken for the Infantile Paralysis drive. Mrs. W. M. Campbell will be pro-1 gram chairman and has securea 1 Dr. Morris H. Roach as the, speaker on "International Af fairs." . Special patriotic music is being arranged for the. pro gram and roll-call topics will be presented. Mrs. J. D. Osborn and Mrs. R. W. Marsters will be co chairmen of the hostess com mittee. FORSYTHE GUILD HAS i ENJOYABLE EVENING MEETING ON THURSDAY The regular meeting of the Forsythe Guild was enjoyed Thursday evening at the home of Miss Elnor. Sheik with Miss Allee-VlrgiiiiJ. Hancs, assisting hostess. Miss Verna Carothers, presi dent, conducted the business meeting. The devotionals were led by Mrs. Paula Anderson, who gave an interesting review of "The Family" as outlined in the Guild study book, "The Mystery of the Ages." Group discussion followed on various questions raised in Mrs. Auderson's report. Miss Vera Kredrickson gave a re view of "Do You Want a Chris tian World?" which was greatly enjoyed by the group. Mrs. Esther Patterson was wel comed into the Guild. S.'navy reserve, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Krohn of Roseburg, at an impres sive ceremony performed by Dr. C. A. Edwards at two-thirty o' clock Tuesday afternoon, Janu ary 16, at the lovely home of the bride's parents In Melrose. Bouquets of chrysanthemums formed an attractive setting for the ceremony.. The wedding music was played by Mrs. Fredrick Becker, sister of the bridegroom. The bride, who was given In marriage by her father, was very lovely in a light blue atternoon dress with a strand of pearls (a gift from the bridegroom) and a corsage of gardenias and carna tions.' Miss Marie Krohn, of Port land, was maid of honor, and was attractivo in a blue frock with a corsage of carnations. Ray C. Doerner, signalman, U. S. coast guard, acted as best man for his brother. Both mothers wore ensembles of blue with corsages of gar denias. A reception followed with Mrs. F. R. Douglas and Mrs. Clyde Hammond assisting in the serv ing.
