The meeting opened by singing "Oh Come All Ye, Faithful" and Hark the Herald Angels Sing" in unison. . Quartet, "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem" by Mrs. Tom Ridge way, Mrs. William . C. Woods, Mrs. A. P. Slack and Rev. Mr. Matthews, with Mrs. A. P. Slack at the piano. Scripture reading, "The Christ mas Story as-Told in the Bible" by Rev. Mr. Matthews. TO HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY DEC. 16 The Junior department of the Methodist Sunday school will hold a Christmas party from four In the afternoon until eight in the evening, Saturday. December 16, at the church parlors. Games will be played and a pot hick supiwr will be held, aft er which the group will practice for the Christmas program and will later enjoy a trip about town singing Christmas carols. RED CROSS PARTY TO BE HELD ON FRIDAY The ladles of Drew- and Tiller, who have been working for many mourns mr ine American Red delightful Christmas party Fri day afternoon to be given hv the South Umnqun branch of the American Red Cross. This parly is being given by the South Ump qua branch in appreciation of the splendid work having been ac complished for the organization by the women of the two communities. COMMUNITY CLUB HONORS MUSICIANS ' YONCALLA The Elkhead community sponsored a turkey dinner Sunday in the community hall honoring the musicians who have so graciously and generous ly given of their time and talents to the various social gatherings of the club. About 75 friends were seated at the long table and the honored guests were Paul Al len, Mrs. Lloyd Pinkston, Mr. and Mrs. Eurl Davis, Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Record, Percy Langdon, Miss Barbara Houser, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grubbe, Mrs. Annie Kruse. Miss Vera Thompson and Mrs. George Edes; who assist at the gatherings, were unable to at tend. During the afternoon the EJk head grange installed their new olficers for the coming year. Brother Chas. Wicklander, state deputy Installing officer, Bro. C. O, Patterson, county deputy and Sister Patterson were ceremon ial marshals and emblem bearer. Brother Tipton of Riverside grange assisted. Sister Wickland er was pianist. Alter the installa tion ceremony Brother Wickland er gave some valuable informa tion on the work done Dy tne grange and a brief outline of the programe for , 1945. Among the many visitors to this ceremony a number wore so Impressed that a gain of 10 new members was made. The community service men's flag In the Elkhead community hall now has 27 names. The grange has written a letter to each man, and members and friends of the boys are signing the letters and adding a brief EieetlnE to the boys who are representing this neighborhood in tne front lines. LOOKINGGLASS P.-T. A. HAS FINE MEETING LOOKINGGLASS The Look- ineclass PT. A. met at the school house Friday for their reg ular business session. The Christ mas program and decorations were discussed. Mrs. Adair, prin cipal, asked for a truckload of trees and greenery to ' decorate the gym for the Christmas pro gram. Harvey Dysert volunteer ed the use of his truck and some of the high school boys volun teered their services in cutting the trees. There has been a P.-T. A. membership drive on at the J school for the past month withi keen competiton between the rooms. Mrs. Adair's room, seventh and. eighth grades, tied with Mrs. Kicnards room, tlrst and second grades, for first place. So a party was promised to Doth rooms. At tijr the business session, Mrs. Holt's room, third and fourth grades, put on a demonstration of how they study their arithme tic and social science. iTi'is prov ed very interesting to the parents S. 1-c Joe Green then agreed .to answer any questions about his experiences in the south Pacific war area, that he could, without giving out any secret, military information. The meeting was then adjourned by the president, Mrs. Helen Schulz. Ail business and bills were disposed of and a discussion was held on what to do at the next meet ing as it will be social night. It was decidecd to have the mem bers from Oakland be appointed as a committee to furnish the luncheon and there will be the exchange of Christmas presents. Mrs. Kathryn Dearling arid Mrs. Izabel Hiney were granted trans fers so that they may loin the Roseburg Rebekah lodge as they are now making their homes there.
