Garman, the club leaders, were present. Donald Patterson, nrcsldont. presided, it was uecia- cd to have the last club meeting August 3, at which time a potluck dinner will be served, uno par ents of all club members will be invited to the meeting. Methods of control of the spotted cucum ber beetle was discussed very thoroughly. The beetles have been doing considerable damage to the bean crop in the Sutherlin area. The group also discussed farm safety. Scoring of gardens In the Lions club foods production contest will be done this week. Mr. Joe Kikof accompanied Kenneth Minnlck, county club agent, last Thursday, when all the gardens in the Su therlin area were scored. Mr. Ki kof and H. D. Palmer will assist In scoring the Brockway area gardens Monday night; Pete Motschcnbachcr and Sterling Richmond will help score the gar dens in Scotts valley Tuesday eve ning. The gardens on Callahan trail are to be scored Thursday, and those on the Melrose route Friday. The coast area garden club projects are to bo scored Monday and Tuesday, July 31 and August 1. A group from the Gar-diner-Rcedsport Lions club will assist in scoring. Plans are being made for hold ing a livestock achievement day for all livestock club members up Smith River, Sept. 10. All club members are planning on show ing their livestock and having a Judging contest. A potluck din ner at noon will bo followed In the afternoon by scoring of live stock projects for the Gardiner Reedsport foods production con test. Mr. Walter Pyritz and W. F. A bulletin on prevention of acci dents, printed for 4-H club mem bers, has been a big help to club members in reducing farm acci dents. The bulletin stresses ways of removing farm hazards and precautions to use In prevention of accidents.
