S. were hosts at a pink and blue shower, held at the lovely home ol Mrs. Avery Lasswell, Thursday atter noon. Large bouquets of gladioli, babv breath and daisies were used In the rooms. The beautiful garden, where the guests gather ed, held bouquets of summer . flowers. A lovely lace-covered cloth, held a bassinette, where the' many beautiful gifts were placed. A short program consist ing of scripture reading by Mrs. Jennie Lasswell, original poem by Mrs. Walter Lunney, and a read ing by Mrs. W. J. Ladd, preceded the opening of the lovely gifts. Delicious refreshments were served to tie following: Mrs. Fred Hunt and four children, Mrs. W. J. Ladd, Mrs. Avery Lass well, Mrs. Jennie Lasswell, Mrs. Sidney Lasswell, Mrs. Eric Sten seth, Mrs. Jean Cowan, Mrs. How ard Hartley, Mrs. Jim Toner, Mrs. Walter Lunney, Mrs. Bruce Highley, Mrs. Klrtlcy, Mrs. Ceo. BASKET DINNER ENJOYED SUNDAY A basket picnic dinner was en joyed Sunday afternoon on the Umpqua river on the Bob Blakoly property after church. Those at tending were: Mr. and Mrs. R. P. H. Thels (formerly Wilmo Anderson) of Oakland, Calif. The lace-covered table was attractively arranged and beautiful bouquets of clarkia were placed ibput the rooms. Wilson and Tim Miller, Joyce Miller and ' sons, Joe Jr. and Jim, from Port- Rationing Lifted On 12 Farm Items When the 1945 farm machinery fationlpg program went Into ef fect on July 21), a dozen Items went off the ratloing list of farm equipment corn and cotton planters, row-type sprayers, pota to graders, stationery balers, field ensilage harvesters, . portable ele vators, grain and forage blowers, milking machines, field hay choppers and harvesters, wind mills, listers and listers with planting attachments. Farmers no longer need to secure purchase certificates for these machines from the County Farm Machin ery Rationing committee. Purchase certificates will be required in 1945 on all 19 of the rationed Items, but there will be no county quotas on grain drills, potato planters, potato diggers. silo fillers, irrigation pumps, pow er srayers, garden tractors, deep and shallow well water systems', power pumps, and farm milk coolers.- County quotas will be established on combines, corn binders, corn pickers, manure spreaders, mowers, side delivery rakes, hay loaders, pick-up hay balers and tractors. With the ex ception of power sprayers, gar den tractors, deep and shallow well water systems, power pumps and farm milk coolers, manufac turers will distribute only 80 per cent of their authorized produc tion with WFA directing distri bution of the 20 per cent reserve on the other 14 rationed items to take care of area needs that may develop.
