SUTHERLIN Mrs. Garman very graciously entertained the East Side Garden club last Thurs day at her home on the Pacific highway south of town. . The meeting was called to or der. by. the. president, ponald.Pat torsonr Under new. business .they planned, fqr, their, final picnic of the season. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. M. Patterson on July 22. A very delightful program was rendered by several members of the group, which consisted of two skits, a piano solo, and Mrs. Har ley Parker played three selections on the accordion. At the close of the meeting Mrs. Garman served delicious refreshments to the group. MRS. DILL HONORED WITH SHOWER AZALEA Mrs. H. H. Walter mire and Mrs. Ruth Sanderson were hosteses Friday afternoon at a pink and blue shower honor ing Mrs. Carroll Dill, Sr. Guests present were: Mrs. Dill, Mrs. Cora Chadwick, Mrs. R. C. Johns, Mrs. Champ Johns, Mrs. J. S. Evans, Esther Thorpe, Mrs. Cora Miller, Mrs. Arlo Worley, Max and Peggy Sanderson, Mrs. Sanderson, and Mrs. Waltermlre. Mrs. Dill received many nice gifts, several from persons un able to attend. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. MR. AND MRS. FLORY ENTERTAIN CLUB SUTHERLIN Mr. and Mi s. Clifford Flory very graciously en tertained their Pinochle club at their lovely home east of Slither lin Saturday evening. Cards were enjoyed until a late hour, when refreshments were served to: Mr. and Mrs. GJ W. Milam, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Man ning, Mr. and Mrs. William Cro well, Mrs. Jake Francis, Miss Francis Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cracroft and daughter, Donna, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Flory and their daughters, Jacqueline and San dra. KEYSTONE' CLUB TO HOLD POTLUCK SUPPER The Methodist Keystone club members and their husbands arc invited to enjoy a six-thlrly o'clock potluck supper Monday night, July 17, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoo Marsters on South Kane street. Those attend ing are asked to bring their own table service, a salad and a hot dish. Dessert and bread will be furnished. Those not knowing the way to the Marsters home and those desiring transporta tion, are asked to meet at the church parlors. COUPLE UNITED AT CAMAS VALLEY CAMAS VALLEY Roberta Jeanne Bramhall of Roscburg and Marsh Skaggs, Jr., were mar ried at the community church on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. Pastor Gene Elliot performed the ceremony in the presence of members of the immediate famil ies. Shirley Joanne Skaggs, sister of the groom, was bride's maid and Ed Joyce, an uncle ot (he groom, acted as best man. The young couple are spending their honeymoon at the mountain cab in of Ed Dahl. BIGELOW ENTERTAIN ON MONDAY GLENDALE Mr. and Mrs. Glen Blgelow entertained at a de lightful Chinese noodle dinner party at their home Monday eve ning, having as guests: Arte Ste phens, Seaman 1c, U. S. navy, who is spending his two weeks leave in Glendale; Mr. and Mi's. E. J. Harris, Miss Nadlneand Miss Marilyn Harris, and Miss Loa and John Blgelow. MRS. BELL GUEST OF DR. AND MRS. DEAN Mrs. William Boll was the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Dean, at their home, Chns Mar near fdleyld Sunday. Dr. and Mrs. Dean are planning to spend Iho rest of July at their summer home. Mrs. Dean's mother, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. anil Mrs. Thomas, and Bobby and "Hutch" Farmer, sons of Bob Farmer, are slaying with the Deans. Beavers Blank ' Seals in Second Straight Win The Portland Beavers blanked the San Francisco Seals, 4 0, last night for their second straight win in the home park and in so doing knocked the Seals out of first place in the league ; stand ings. Meanwhile, the Seattle Rain- icrs, opening their home scries 1 with a double header with Oak-! land muffed a chance to return ' to the league lead by dropping both ends of the double header by scores of 3-2 and 1-0. The double loss dropped Seat tle from second to third behind the Seals, while the Oakland Acorns jumped Into first by vir tue of a 3 0 victory over San Di ego. In the league's other series, last place Sacramento clipped Los An geles for a double win, 6-1 and 3 1, and tightened the league scramble to only four games top to bottom. ,In the Portland game, the Bea vers were helped by three San Francisco errors in the second inning when they put the game on ice with two runs. They added singles in the fifth and eighth.
