H., July 1 (AP) All but obscured by the fighting for the peace it is intended to implement, the United Nations monetary and fi nancial conference opens today to plan the foundations for two new business houses on the world's main street. One Is a tcn-blHion dollar de partment store whose shelves would be stocked only with dol lars, pounds, rubles, yuan, fanes and the other monies of the world and with a storage vault for some 2 billion dollars in bright and shiny gold. The other Is a 10-million-dollar bank, .patterned after this coun try's Reconstruction Finance cor poration. Together they are designed to promote world trade and pros perity and remove the causes of war. " ' The conference will convene to hear a message from Presldnt Roosevelt, to name Treasury Sec. retary Morgenthau its president and to chart the course oi dis cussions that probably will last three weeks or more. On hand at this swank resort are representatives of more than 40 other nations, including the French Committed ?of ' National Liberation. Their decisions the first sought on world-wide scale since the 1933 London monetary and economic conference will go before each government for ap proval or rejection. The projected department store, more formally designated as an international monetary fund, would be set up at the start as an eight billion dollar project, later to be expanded by opening Its doors to the nations now neu tral or at war with us.
