EVERYBODY DANCE WEDNESDAY NIGHT is everybody's night to Howl and Sing and Dance at the EAGLES BALLROOM DANCING EVERY SATURDAY ALSO Fire Guard School Conducted Prior to Duty Assignment Approximately 85 members of the national forest protective force attended the three-day fire school completed last week at the Dry creek camp on the North Umpqua river, V. V. Harpham, supervisor of; the Umpqua Na tional forest, advises. The school was directed by Ray B. Hampton, fire assistant. District rangers and. experienced personnel served as instructors. The school was to train rang ers, fire, guards,, lookouts and suppression crews in their respec tive, antics and to outline the summer program. Approximately 30 selected high school boys, largely from Doug las county, but including one group from Portland, have been assigned to the forest to work as maintenance and fire crews-, Su pervisor Harpham reports.. They are being divided into three Io nian crews to be located at Dry creek, Diamond lake, and the South Umpqua district, where they will engage In improvement and betterment work under the direction of experienced foresters and' will be available to aid in fire suppression.
