LADY ELKS AND ELKS ENJOY BANQUET ON THURSDAY EVENING More than 300 Elks and their ladies enjoyed the banquet held at the temple Thursday evening, which was followed by the regu lar session of Elks and a social hour held by the ladies In the clubrooms. Nine tables of contract bridge and six of pinochle were In play during the evening with Mrs. Edith Irons winning the pinochle prize and Mrs. Robert Savage winning the bridge prize. Mrs. Lawrence Moore, Mrs. C. M. Saar and Mrs. Glenn Beach acted as hostesses for the social hour. A number of visitors were present and several new mem bers were welcomed into the or ganization. The next regular meeting will be held May 11. Committees will be announced soon by the new president, Mrs. L. L. Wlmberly. Miss Pauline Reynolds, dnuehter of Mrs. W. E. Reynolds of Rt. 2, and Mr. Ivan Buckle of Kellogg, Idaho, were married Sunday eve ning at 8:00 p. m. April 16, In the Church of God by B-o. T. C. Buckle, brother of the groom. The church was decorated with white lilies, gladioli, and bridal wreath with a backgrouud of greenry and white tapers, light pd by Mrs. Gerald Johnson and Miss Wanda Donaldson. Mrs. Ira Ford of Carbon played "The Flower Son g," "Mendelsson's Wedding March," and Roy Bach man and Mrs. Christine Jagers of Carbon sang, "I Love You Truly." "The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Arthur Bennett, city constable, wore a white satin slipper gown with a veil of white Brussell net falling from a tiara of white and pink rosebuds. She carried a white Bible on which rested a bouquet of while carna tions. Her sister, Miss Doris Rey nolds, was bridesmaid and wore gown of blue moire taffeta, with a corsage of pink carnations. Mrs. Jackson and Miss Donaldson wore pink and white taffeta gowns with carnation corsages of contrasting colors. Little Miss Dorene Buckle: niece of the sroom. was flower girl. Pvt. Pres ton Capers of Livingston, La., was best man. The groom, best man and minister wore bouton nieres of white carnations. At a reception at Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Wilson's home, aunt of the bride, bluebonnets and pinks deco rated the dining room where Mrs. Gale Bennett of Eastland, and Miss Doris Reynolds served punch and cake to forty guests. The couple left Thursday lor a wedding trip to Roseburg, Ore gon, where they will visit his mother, Mrs. T. C. Buckle. They will live in Kellogg, Idaho, where he has employment at the Rob ertson Motor company. The bride Is a graduate of Carbon high school, and was a student In the Ranger Junior college. The groom, a graduate of Sutherlin, Oregon, high school was in tne armed forces 18 months before receiving a medical discharge in ! October. The couple met last summer while he was visiting his brother here on furlough. Yeoman Third Class Joyce Snyder Yeoman Third Class Joyce Snyder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Snyder of Charlottesville, Va., former residents of- Days Creek, is now stationed in the Waves at the Bureau of Aero nautics, Washington D. C, and resides at the Wave headquarters in Arlington. She Is very well known in Roseburg,- having attended the grade school here in 1929 and 1930. She is a granddaughter of Mrs. Joe A. Snyder of Days Marry at Post Chapel '13 ! Sgt. and Mrs. Sgt. Phyllis J. Crumpacker, sup ply sergeant of the Wac company at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind., and daughter of Mrs. Orville Johnstone of Roseburg, was mar ried in the post chapel on 'April 1 to Sgt. Byron Fish from Cam bridge, Mass. Sgt. Fish is also stationed at Ft. Harrison as 'a sunnly serwant. , Capt. William C. Nellson, cous in of the bride, came tin from Penn. An honor guard formed by six mem bers of the 798th Military Police battalion served in part of the ceremony and the bride and groom passed under their crossed bayonets. Sgt. Crumpacker enlisted In the Wacs in February, 1943 at Port land, Ore., and completed her basic training at Ft. Dcs Moines, Iowa. After attending administra tion school at Des Moines also, she was assigned in July to Fort Harlson. Fett. TWO ROSEBURG MATRONS ELECTED GRAND OFFICERS OF JOB'S DAUGHTERS Two Roseburg matrons have been elected officers In the Grand Order of Job's Daughters of Ore gon, and were installed last week at the grand session held In Port land. April 21-22-23. Mrs. E. A. Brltton, a past guardian of Rose burg bethel, Is the new vice grand guardian of .Oregon and Mrs. Albert Micelli, guardian of Roseburg bethel at this time, is the new fifth messenger. The grand session was held at Sellwood Masonic temple. The new grand guardian of Oregon Is Mrs. Edna Stanley, of Gresh am. Others attending from Rose burg besides Mrs. Brltton and Mrs. Micelli included: Mra A. J. The tridegroom-elect was grad uated from Roseburg high school and attended University of Ore gon and for the last two years has been stationed with the U. S. Forces in the Aleutian Islands. He has been home on furlough for the last few weeks and left last evening for Mississippi to re port at his new base.
