HAS INTERESTING MEETING ON MONDAY EVENING Rev. W. L. Blaker, rector of St. George's Episcopal church, was guest speaker on the subject, "Our Town and World Prophecy" at a most Interesting meeting of the B. P. W. C. Monday evening at the clubhouse. Rev. Mr. Blak er's talk was exceptionally fine and was greatly enjoyed. Florence Snedaker and Alice Virginia Haynes presented the following program, which was most delightful: reading, "Chat terbox" by Norma Van Horn : solos, "The Surrey With the Finge on Top," and "Littel Old Lady Passing" by Mary Lou Hut ton, accompanied by Patricia Lamb, and accordion solos, "The Golden Dreams;" "Carnival of Venice;" "Evening Star," and "Anchors Aweigh" played by Cla ren Blake. Spring flowers decorated the buffet table and following a short business meeting conducted by the president, Gene Mills, lovely refreshments were served. Mrs, Thomas Lamb was a guest and members present were: Gene Mills, Margaret Brown, Laura lies, Doris Coal, Ruth Hodson, Lula Gorrell, Helen Saar, Dolma Grobe, Verna Carothers, Stella Spencer, Alvia Wetherell, Thel ma Young, Bess Stark, Vivian Logsdon, Hazel Dixon, Vera Fredrickson, Sula Parkinson, Ina Farnsworth, Emily Judd, Ruth Roberts, Elnor Sherk, Carrie Bell, Helen Neal and Martha Perry. The club will meet April 10 at the clubhouse with Carrie Bell acting as program chairman. ROSEBURG WOMAN'S CLUB TO ENJOY DELIGHTFUL PROGRAM ON TUESDAY The Roseburg Woman's club will meet at a one-thirty o'clock dessert-luncheon at the club house next Tuesday with Mrs. W, C. Holmes and Mrs. L. A. Wells, hostess chairmen, assisted by Mrs. C. W. Wharton, Miss Es- telle Conover and Mrs. George Wharton. Mrs. H. O. Pargeter and Mrs, Velle Broadway will have charge ol the decorations and Mrs. Hom er W. Grow will present spring time music and will act as club announcer. Mrs. G. V. Wlmberly, president, has urged all members to be present as the program will bo of unusual Interest and enjoy ment. Mrs. R. R. Brand, a past pres ident of the club and who Is a very fine speaker, will give a book review. Mrs. W. F. Chap man, who has one of the most outstanding gardens in this part of the country, will talk on visit ing famous azalea gardens and Mrs. Louis Albert Banks will give one of a series of charming Bible roll-call talks. Preceding the meeting the ex ecutive board will attend a 12 o'clock no-hostess luncheon at the Hotel Rose. EVERGREEN GRANGE HAS MEETING ON MONDAY EVENING The Evergreen grange met at the hall Monday evening. Guests present, included Elmer McClure, Portland, state deputy, and Mr. W. O. Patterson, Riversdale, county deputy. During the meeting, Mr. Mc Clure gave a talk on the function of the grange in the present and in the fiKure. The lecturer's hour consisted of: The men contributing one dol lar and telling how he earned It. This completed the contest being held. The women won by turn ing In $18, and the men turned in $11. At the next meeting the men will provide the refresh ments. Barbara Becker gave a reading, "Telling the Truth"; and Vera Rice read "Men and Monkeys." The lecturer, Claudia Becker, provided a birthday cake for all thoe having birthdays during January, February and March. ' Afler the meeting chili beans was served. HAS INTERESTING MEETING WEDNESDAY The Dillard W. S. C. S. held an interesting meeting at the home of Mrs. R. Davidson Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Cooper as assisting hostess. A one o'clock potluck luncheon was enjoyed. Spirea, quince and currant sprays formed attractive bouquets about the rooms. Mrs. George Smith presided over the meeting and Carol Her cher presented the devotions. A poem entitled, "I Know Some thing About You" was read by Effie Ireton. mother of Mrs. Davidson, which was greatly en Joyed. It was reported $53.60 was taken in on the play, "For Beau ty's Sake." A gift vase was pre sented to Florence Smith, who is moving away. Those present were: Mrs. Rummell, Floyce Wil son, Carol Hercher, Mrs. Limes, VivLin and Virginia Laurence, Helen Buell, Emily Fosback, Florence Smith, Lena Burks, Mercy Buell, Effie Ireton, Mrs. George Smith, Cora Evans, Grace Barnes and the hostesses, Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Cooper. The next meeting. will be held at the home of Emily Fosback. Every one is cordially invited to attend. P. N. G. CLUB IS ENTERTAINED AT DESSERT-SUPPER The P. N. G. club was enter tained at a delightful seven-thirty o'clock dessert-supper Friday evening at the home of Mamie Fett with Mary Van Dyne, Elma Stephens, Mary Wood and Eileen Rapp as hostesses. .The tables were beautifully decorated In green and white with bowls of violets. Bouquets of snrlng flow ers were used about the rooms. A business meeting was held and Ona Williams, who Is again residing in Roseburg. was re-Instated as a member. MRS. A. J. GEDDES ENTERETAINS EXECUTIVE BOARD ON THURSDAY Mrs. A. J. Geddes was a most gracious hostess Thursday, when she entertained the execulive board members of the W. S. of C. S. of the Methodist church at her attractive home on East Washington street. A beautiful lace cloth covered the table, which was centered with a very lovely arrangement of spring flowers. It was announced that the W. S. of C. S. is Interested In the parsonage fund and has contributed a neat sum to the fund. LEGION AUXILIARY TO MEET NEXT TUESDAY Umpqua Unit of the American Legion auxiliary will meet next Tuesday evening, April 4, at 8 o'clock at the K. of P. hall In stead of at the I. O. O. F. hall. All members are urged to be present. CAMELLIA EXHIBIT IS DATED FOR APRIL 8TH BY WOMAN'C CLUB The Roseburg, Woman's club has announced Its annual camel lia exhibit will be held at the clubhouse on Saturday, April 8, with Mrs. H. O. Pargeter and Mi's. Velle Broadway acting as co-chairmen. All persons In the county grow ing camellias are Invited to ex hibit the blossoms. Last year, a large number of residents of this community exhibited blooms, w hlch created a much greater in terest among gardners In the growing of this fine plant. It is expected that many more varie ties are to be on exhibition this vear and everyone interested is most cordially invited to partici pate. In addition to the camellias, nrimroses and narcissi will bo ex hibited. There will ho no admission charge to the exhibit as a silver offering will he taken to defray expenses.
