Stanton THE RQsetwrg city councjl js preparing to undertake a zon- ing program- The council would like vpry much to puss the job off to a planning commission. The members of the fire commission, who have been conducting the survey thus far, realize the magnitude of the task upon which they haye embarked and would be delighted to have volunteers step forward to assume the responsibility for the project, which is cortain to produce plenty of headaches and many long nights of arduous labor. It might seem at' first thought it would be tin etisy task to say that a business district should be located in ft certain part of town, that other areas should be set asjde for resir donees, and that industries should bo grouped in still an other location. But a proper zoning study requires much more consideration than the mere blocking out of tracts for specified purposes. First there must be ft business section. Consideration must be given the probable extent of growth tind the direc tion in which the business district is most apt to expand. There must be specified what constitutes business, the five hazards created find the types of buildings to be required. J wpuld not have bptherpd, an swering t f she had not asked fqr opinions. Well, I'D tell her how f fee) about books. I am not very well acquainted with Oregons laws, but I be lieve that In the U. S. A. filthy books, as she palls them, are ban ned. Therefore, the book could not have been too filthy, if I had bought a book that was really filthy, I would have taken the matter tq the store manager. If t really endanger ed the morale of the youths, I would have takpn it to the local authorities, f also notice that Mrs. Allen in her complaint failed to mention the name -of said book. If she honestly expects a sincere opin ion, she should hava done so. to enable us mothers to decide for ourselves after reading said book and giving it fair consideration. Yes, I am a mother pf two chil dren, a boy 12 and a girl J5, and I think the world of "both" of thpm, not only the girl. My children are wise and broadminded. They know the facts of lifp, and our family, as a whole, is highly respected. There has never been child de linquency in pur family that I know pf. Thank God! The Children and ourselves are law abiding citizens, respecting other popple's feelings and opin ions and wo make it a point not to make snap judgments. I have found out for myself that all is clean to tho cleap and honest to the honest. Apparently . Mrs. Allen likes hoart-broaking literature. I don't I likp cpmics, adventure, science, inventions and educational books. I believe there are enough tears shed in this dark world without going out and buying a book that would bring tears to your oyos, . I reserve my tears for times lll;o when we received a tele gram not so lung ago telling us my stepson was In .Tokyo as a prisoner pf war- We couldn't help it then. I don't remember of ever read ing anything better along that line, and I do wish that all those who like to criticize the church and the members would read this article over and over again until they grasp what the church means to them, and to tho com munity, and to the country at large.
