G..CLU0 HAS .. . , ELfetTION OF OFFICERS GLENDALE A Past Noble Grand club of the Mountaineer Rebekah lodge No, 149. ol Glen dale, was organized at the home ol Mrs. Frank Thompson, Wed nesday evening. The officers elected were: Betty Thompson, chairman; Ber tha Stevenson, vice chairman; Ida Basye, secretary and treas urer. The second Wednesday of each month was selected for the regu lar meeting night. Members discussed activities to be carried out during the coming year. Delicious . refreshments, was served buffet style to the follow ing members: Ida Basye, Matie V. Heller, ArllnaKafer, .Nellie Lesh, Rosa Racss,, Margaret Stev enson Viola Caraway; Bertha Stevenson, Bess. Bates, Susan Bowman and the hostess Betty Thompson. TOWNSENO CLUB HAS MEETING ON MONDAY DRAIN, .Jan.. 20. The Town send club met Monday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Henderson and enjoyed a pot luck supper,, before the business meeting. Several hew members joined the club. Those present were Messrs and Mesdames, Ben Hedrlck, Delmar Wilson and Bobby; C. H. Patchen, and Dorrls; A. P. Van Kirk, Arch Alford, Gene Lakey and David; Carl Henderson, Mrs. Annie Bur dett, Mrs. Minnie Barker, Ward Henderson and a buddy. P. T. C. TO GIVE BENEFIT DANCE . The Parent-Teachers club of Sutherlin will present a benefit dance Saturday night, January 22, at the school gymnasium for the Infantile paralysis drive. Mu sic will be furnished by Kenny Whltson's orchestra. The public Has been cordially Invited to at tend. .. sevv And so cLup MEETS WEDNESDAY SUTHERLIN Mrs. Harold To riole graciously entertained the Sew and So club at her home 1ft Roseburg. Wednesday afternoon. Chrysanthemums were used to carry out a pretty decoration mo tif. Covers were placed for Mrs. Clifford Parrott, Mrs. Vern Hoi gate, Mrs. Brittaln Slack, Mrs. Maurice Vogelpohl, Mrs. Richard Rlggs, Mrs. Paul Trozelle, Mrs. Howard Wahl and the hostess, Mrs. Tonole. Mrs. Wahl presented the hos tess with a very lovely hostess gift. Mrs. Tonole presented a prize to the one finishing hem ming a napkin first, and Mrs. Wahl was the lucky one. The pleasant afternoon was spent in visiting and sewing. COMMUNITY CLUB TO MEET SATURDAY The Glengary , Community club will meet at 7:30 o'clock Satur day evening, January 22, at the 1 schoolhouse. Dorothy Maynor today has received ac claim throughout the nation as having the finest soprano voice of her race. RoscburR school students, have exhibited, their desire for cultur al concerts, by enthusiastically working as volunteer member ship campaign workers. Thirty five students are out working to make the campaign a success and residents of Douglas county are showing that they too are Inter ested in bringing world-renowned artists here in concert. : Miss Gladys H. Mrs. Lena Madden, presi dent, called the meeting to order. Plans, were made to send the can ned fruit to the Old Peoples home at Beavertdn, and for the convention of Christian churches to be held here; the first of Feb, Mrs. Powell was the leader of the .
