Oregon Wild Life Federation Lists Demands, Elects CORVALLIS, Ore., Dec. 13 (AP) Scientific management of game had the full backing of the Oregon Wild Life federation to day. - Resolutions urging establish ment of a scientific research de partment of game conservation by the state game commission and approving the commission's practice of determining open sea sons and bag limits on a survey basis were adopted at the close of its annual conference Satur day. Other resolutions approved the McNary bill to regulate off shore fishing, opposed the Mc- Larren bill providing for federal control of wild life on federal lands and urged release of Rob- Inson-Pittman funds to states pro- pared to use them in practical game conservation projects. R. E. Dimmich, head of the Oregon Stale college fish and game department, predicted that Ihe state eventually will have re gional wild life managers. It became effective to day. s All pork steaks, roasts, smoked ham, bacon and ready-to-cat meat was .ireduced by one - point a pound. Fresh hams hams which are neither frozen, cured or smoked arc cut by two points per pound. Fresh, smoked and cooked sau sages containing no other rrieat except pork are down one point. Dry and semi-dry sausages such as hard salami, pepperoni, mor tadella,: are down one point re gardless of beef ingredients. Delinquency lips Population at Training School SALEM, Ore., Dec. 13 (AP) Oregon's growing Juvenile delln. quency problem has doubled the population of the Btate training school for boys at , Woodburn over what the total , was three yenrs ago, M. D. Woolley, super intendent of the school, told the slate board of control. . He said 90. per cent of the in crease was caused by family troubles which are tho result of war conditions, such as both par ents working. Woolley said he regretted that there was no means of supervis ing boys after they are released from the Institution. The popula tion of the school now is 124. but it reached an all-time high of 140 a few weeks ago. Woolley also said there is a vital need for an Intermediary In stitution, such as a reformatory, to care for boys over 18 years old and in their early 20's. Ho said "it's a crime in Itself to send an 18-year-old boy to tho peni tentiary." woolley said he Could see no hope for lessening the Juvenile problem In the immediate future. "Five years after the war. we'll be reaping the harvest from the conditions we are creating now," he said. . .
