The Beaver patrol hud a very delight ful birthday party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rletmari In honor of their son, Wayne. Wayne received many nice gifts and opened them with delight after which a delicious luncheon was served to Donald Robertson, Gene and Jackie Cul ver, Lloyd Holgate, Earl Pleu ard, and Tommy , Chenowith troop members and Beverly Pope, Wayne Musgrove, Donald Squier, Betty Squier, Beverly Vnnselenbery, Hilkie Hempenios, Barbara Schaich, Patsey Lou VVahl. After lunch they all en Joyed a theater party. HALLOWEEN PARTY IS ENJOYABLE AFFAIR' SUTHERLIN, Nov. 5-A Hal loween party was given by the Girls Scouts for the Boy Scouts. The evening was spent in play ing games and singing. The boys and girls sang some of the songs they learned at camp this sum mer and the boys were given randy with the girls receiving peanuts. The grand march was then held to see who had the best costumes, Leanne McCreary and Johnny Musgrove winning the honors. HAS MEETING ON THURSDAY MYRTLE CREEK, Nov. 5 The Woman's Society of Christian Service met at the home of Miss Abbie Bond Thursday for a monthly social affair. The ser vice was opened by group sing ings, followed by. prayers and a reading by Mrs. Wilkens, the pastor's wife. Refreshments were served in the dining ' room, which was beautifully decorated with au tumn flowers. Those attending were: 'Mcsdames Bailey, Morri son, Lcdgerwood, Horton, Chan cy,' Taggart, Frederick, Wilkens, Addle Rice, Beulah Kinney nnd baby, Jerry; Mrs. Knight, iVirke. Way and the hostess, Miss Bond. A very enjoyable social hour fol lowed. MOTOR CORPS HAS INTERESTING MEETING DRAIN, Nov.. 5 The motor or ambulance corps met Friday eve ning at the Goodmanson garage for a class of motor mechanics, which is in connection with the Red Cross work. Alfred Blom berg had charge of the class, which will meet every Friday night, and will have military drill as well. Requirements are to have standard and advanced first aid, and to have so many hours in motor mechanics, and to be a driver. The corps is in corporated into State Guard Aux iliary and have same officers as the Guard. HELD FRIDAY NIGHT YONCALLA, Nov. 4. The an nual carnival of the Yoncalla high school will bo held In the gymnasium the evening of Fri day, November 5. Booths have been" built for Bingo, a fishpond, shooting gallery and other games. A program will be pre sented during the evening with the door prize being awarded at its conclusion. Alleged Disorder Puts Four Youths In Clash With Law Four youths were in custody here today on charges growing out of an automobile accident, an alleged drinking party and a free-for-all disturbance at the Rainbow rink at Winchester, loi cal authorities announced. A fine of SSO and a 30-day sen tence was imposed , in Justice court Tliursdy upon Emerson S. Kohrbaugh, 19. Jack H. Lehn herr, If), was fined $100 loday on a charge of failure (o slop at the scene of an accident and was continued in custody in lieu of payment, Judge Thomas Hartfiel reported, while Bert Lehnherr and Everett Wast, each 17, were held in lieu of $500 bail on charges of aiding a prisoner to escape, with Lehnherr also fac ing a separate charge of assault and battery. . Erwin Short, city chief of po lice, reported that Jack Lehnherr was called to have been driving an automobile which was involv ed in an accident. Instead of slopping, Short said, Lehnherr was reported to have left the scene and was later apprehended by Officer T. W. Thomason. Bert Lehnherr and West aided Jack Lehnherr in breaking away from the officer and all three escap ed, Short reported. Later in the evening, a state policeman was called to the skat ing rink at Winchester where a fight was reported in progress and he arrested Rohrbaugh, whp pleaded guilty in justice court yesterday to being drunk and disorderly. The four had been travelling together prior to Rohr baugh's arrests, the officers staled. Azalea AZALEA, Nov. 4 T. C. Johns made a business trip to Roseburg Monday. - , Mrs. Henry Smith and son. Jackie, shopped in Roseburg Monday. Mrs. J. S. Evans attended to business in Medford Saturday. Mrs. Miller is here from Cal ifornia and is visiting at the home of her son, Clarence Mill er, and family. Pvt. Jim Young from Rhode Island Is here on a furlough and visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Young, and other rela tives and friends. Mrs. Lowell Curtis and Mrs. Clyde Lunnen were in Grants Pass Monday afternoon where 1 hey visited Mr. Curtis'who is a patient at the Josephine Gener al hospital there. Mrs. Ponsonby was admitted to the Mercy hospital in Roseburg Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jenks and family moved last week to Springfield where they will make their home. Allen Jones from Portland visited here last week and assisted them in moving. Mrs. Ted McPherran and daughter, Darlene, and two grandsons left Tuesday morning for I.os Aneeles. The committee is especially j urging all parents of hoys serv ing with the Roseburg National guard company to be in attend ance at this program, as Ser geant Mclsaac was in close con tact with the Douglas county unit in combat and is expected to have some "off (lie record" Informa t i o n concerning the combat achievement of the local com pany. He served throughout the en tire Guadalcanal campaign, and saw action in other Southwestern Pacific engagements, his assign ment permitting him to travel extensively to various United Na tions front line posts. Sergeant Mclsaac was recom mended to the local committee by the staff officers of Camp White, who report that he has been en gaged in extensive speaking cam paigns at hospitals, war produc tion plants and before civic groups. He is reported to be a most interesting speaker and has a wealth of personal experience of the greatest interest to his listeners.
