DOUGLAS COUNTY Farm Bureau Co-operative Exchange ROSCBURG, OREGON Log Hauling Permits Revoked by Commission SALEM, Ore., Aug. 4 On rec ommendation of the State High way Commission 11 special log hauling permits, involving the use of 20 trucks, were today can celled by Utilities Commissioner George H. Flagg, as follows: A. J. and N. C. Standley, Cam as Valley, Oregon; J. D. Bryson, Roseburg; Hugh H. Honnen, Eu gene; Harold O, Nichols, Reeds port; W. E. Gannon, Jr., Wood burn; Howard Jenkins, Myrtle Point; Manlcy Watson, Scotts burg: Alfred Baldride, Reedsport; Donald Baldridge, Reedsport; Ed Win Matten, Coquille; and Jack Baldridge and Ben Bladridgo, hauling on the permit of the E. (v, Wood company, Reedsport. Commissioner Flagg promptly followed the mandatory provi sions of the act when the High way Commmission filed its recommendation. The communi cation recited that the haulers involved had been frequent of fenders in overloading trucks to the point that safety of the high ways and bridges was endanger ed. Overloads of from five tq 25 tons were cited. The losers in this battle with the law have an opportunity to reengage in log transportation by convincing the Highway Com mission that they will abide, by the laws goverping weight of loads, and recognize that protec tion of the state's vast Invest ment in highways and their avail ability for the safe and rapid movements of troops is a prime requirement by the War Depart ment.
