Rainfall Excess Noted In Roseburg Area The Roseburg area had on ex cess in rainfall of 9.86 inches for the wet season, officially mcas, ured from Sept. 1 to May 31, ac cording to the monthly mete orological summary compiled by J. C. McCallistcr, in charge of the local office of the U. S. Weather bureau. Rainfall for the season totalled 41.02 inches as compared with a normal of 32.91 Inches. The. excess In pre cipitation occurred during the fall months as, since Jan. 1, 1943, the excess amounts to only .03 of an Inch. The total precipitation for May was 2.06 Inches as compared with :i iinrmjil nf 1 93 Inphns. The month also showed an ex-1 cess In temperature of .6 of a degree daily above the normal. The highest temperature reading was 88 degrees, May 24, and the lowest was 35 degrees, May 14. Camas Valley CAMAS VALLEY, June 2 WAAC Sgt. C. E. Markham left Wednesday following a 14-day lurlough from her duties as sec retary at Ft. Sam Houston, Tex. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Markham met her In Roseburg the preceding Tuesday evening. Mrs. Markham and daughter spent Saturday and Sunday In Roseburg as guests of Miss Thel ma Young and Arlcne Meyer at their homo In the Kohlhagen Apartments and attended serv ices Sunday morning at the Epis copal church. Sgt. Markham returned to Texas via Los Angeles where she visited relatives and friends for a couple of days. Tech. Sgt. Charles Krogel is home on furlough for ten days with his parents, Mr. and, Mrs. A. H. Krogel. He arrived on May 20 just one year after entering the army. Sgt. Krogel has been stationed in Missouri for some time and during that time his work has taken him on several trips to points outside the states. He will be stationed for a time now at Fort Lewis, where he started' his "service. Wilbur WILBUR, June 4 -Mr. Parish, who is quite sick, was taken to Mercy hospital Thursday morn ing for treatment.
