Brown, of 3013 West 26th street, Forth Worth, Texas, were married Sunday, May 9, at St. George's Episcopal church in this city. Arch Deacon Howard Russell White, of Eu gene, performed the impressive double ring ceremony at 2:30 in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Palo blue Iris and sprays of pink beauty bush, arranged in I attractive baskets, flanked the! tall white cathedral candles on the altar. Mrs. Lynn Beckley played the organ music for the wedding and accompanied Mrs. Floyd Lewis, who sang: "Oh Promise Me," and "I Love You Truly." The Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin's Wed ding March was played for the bridal party to advance to the al tar. Mrs. Beckley played soft or gan music during the service and played Mendelssohn's Wedding Recessional for the party to leave the church. The bride was very lovely in a floor length wedding gown of white faille, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, form fitting bodice and full skirt of net. Her finger-tip veil was fashioned with a head band of orange blossoms. She carried a white prayer book topped by a white orchid. She wore a strand of pearls, which was a wedding gift from the bridegroom. Mrs. Donald White, of Rose burg, sister of the bride, was ma tron of honor and was charming In a floor length gown of yellow, witli matching nosegay bouquet of carnations. Miss Phyllis Gad way, also a sister of the bride, attired in a pink taffeta frock, and Miss Dorothy White, attired in a blue-colored formal, were bridesmaids. They carried nose gays of yellow carnations. The matron of honor and brides maids wore tiny Juliet caps top ped by flowers. Lt. Paul Glotzbach acted as best man and Sergeant Charles Hart and Sergeant David Orpin were ushers. The church decora tions were in charge of Mrs. Lynn Beckley, Mrs. D. W. The wedding reception was held at the attractive home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Beckley. Gor geous bouquets of colorful spring flowers were arranged about the rooms. The serving table was covered by a beautiful lace cloth and decorated with Columbine and pale pink flowers. The three tiered wedding cake, topped by a miniature soldier bridegroom and bride, was cut by the bride and bridegroom and was served by Mrs. I-ord Singleton. Mrs. D. W. Helliwell presided at the punch bowl and Miss Faith Young and Miss Dorothy Crocker served. The gifts were in charge of Mrs. R. L. Adams and Miss Athalie Taylor had charge of the guest book. Following the reception, Lt. and Mrs. Brown left for Dorches ter House and other coast points on their honeymoon and are now back in Roseburg making their home at 409 East Douglas street. For traveling the bride chose a suit of British brown with brown accessories. Her corsage was a large orchid. The bride is a popular member of the younger set of this city and was graduated from Roseburg high school. She is employed as a secretary at the R. E. A. office. Lt. Brown was graduated from Northside high school at Fort Worth, Texas, and before enter ing the service, was an employee of the Civil Aeronautics depart ment. He is now stationed with the Fourth Fighter Command at Roseburg. CLUB HAS INTERESTING MEETING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON The M- O. A. club was delight fully entertained Wednesday aft ernoon at tlie home of Mrs. El don Ogle. Lovely bouquets of roses and peonies wore arranged about the rooms. Sewing and visiting were enjoyed and at the ten hour Mrs. Ogle served de licious refreshments lo: Mrs George Tolly, Mrs. C. T. The business meeting was in charge of the president, Mrs. Cal kins. The next meeting will be June l(i at the home of Mrs. John Travis. REBEKAH LODGE TO MEET ON TUESDAY Roseburg Rebekah lodge No. 41 will meet this Tuesday at 8 o'clock, in the I O. O. F. hall, with Lena C. Porter, noble grand, pre siding. A very interesting meeting is planned and some very fine re ports from the delegates to the Rebekah Assembly will be given as well as talks by the new vice president of the Rebekah Assem bly, Ethel Bailey; also Edythe Florence Kelley, past president of the Rebekah Assembly and past president of the Association of Rebekah Assemblies. All members and visiting mem bers are cordially invited to at tend. JOB'S DAUGHTERS TO MEET ON TUESDAY Roseburg bethel No. 8 of Job's Daughters will meet at a six thirty o'clock dessert -supper next Tuesday evening at the Masonic temple. The members of the Eadoura club, Daughters of the Nile will be special guests and inspection by grand officers will be made. Initiation will take place and all members are urged to be present. Walter Patterson Dies After Extended Illness Walter Patterson, 71, an early day Roseburg grocer, died at his home at 230 S. Rose St., Friday, lollowing a long Illness. Born Feb. 3, 1S72, at Nashville, 111., he had made his home in Uoselmrg continuously since 1SW3. His nearest living relatives are Mi s. Ella Patterson, Roseburg, a sister-in-law, and a cousin, Mrs. A. C. Marsters, Roseburg. The Rev. Melville T. Wire will conduct funeral services at the Roseburg Undertaking company ch.ipel at 10:30 a. m. Monday. Services will be concluded at the I. O. O. F. cemetery. The engagement was told at a charming dinner at the bride elect's sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, at University of Oregon Sunday. Miss Hamilton was graduated from Roseburg high school in Engagement Told Attorney and Mrs. Guy Cordon, of this city, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Miss Carolyn, to Donald Crouch, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Crouch, of Portland. The engagement was told at a very charming dinner party Sun day at the bride-elect's sorority, I'i Beta Phi, on the University of Oregon campus. Dis cussion was held regarding the slate convention to be held in Salem, June 1, 2, 3. Mrs. Hatfield very graciously acted as installing officer and was assisted by Mrs. Marsters, who presented beautiful corsages to the new officers including president, Mrs. G. V. Wimberly; firse vice-president, Mrs. H. B. Carter; second vice-president, Mrs. O. S. Chambers; secretary, i Miss Marie Martens; treasurer, Mrs. A. S. Coen; recording sec retary, Miss Jennie Jorey, and executive board members, Miss Helen Casey, Mrs. I. S. Riddle, and Mrs. A. J. Geddes. The meeting was turned over to the new president, Mrs. Wlm berly, and discussion followed on the club program for next year. On behalf of the club, Mrs. Wimberly, presented a beautiful gilt to the retiring president, Mrs. Hatfield, who has just com pleted two years as the head of the club and who has enjoyed a most successful presidency. Mrs. A. S. Coen, on behalf of the club, presented a beautiful gift to Mrs. Foster Butner, who for many I years has very capably served as ciuonouse treasurer.. Mrs. R. W. Marsters and Mrs. G. V. Wimberly presented the auditing report and a vote of thanks was given to Mrs. Micelli for her gracious hospitality. The club adjourned for the summer and will resume meeting the first Tuesday in October. Wilbur WILBUR, May. 18. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grubbe of Spring field are visiting relatives in and around Wilbur this week. Mr. and Mrs- Will J. Deardorff and Mrs. Leslie Solomon of Oak land were visiting friends and relatives in Wilbur Friday. Mrs. Ivan Bridge of West Fork came down Friday and took her two daughters, Vera and Rosella, home to spend Mother's day. Walter Crozier underwent an appendicitis operation at Mercy hospital Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hill and daughter, Shirley, of WIcopee are visiting relatives and friends here. They are having their an nual vacation. Their son, Hollls, is in navy training at Farragut, Idaho. Miss Edith Jones, who under went a major operation in n Eu gene hospital, was brought here to the home of her sister, Mrs Milt Miller, Wednesday, where she will spend a few weeks con valescing. Mr. and Mrs. D. P. McKay spent Mother's day with their two sons and families at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford McKay on the Dixon ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McKay and Mrs. Opal Thorpe of Eugene were also present.
