MAY 21,1 Time Limit Urged on Long Distance Phoning Elimination of unessential long distancp communication Is urged by Ihe Pacific Telephone, and Telegraph company, which is ask ing Ihe cooperation of local tele phone users, according to W. M. McEachern, manager of the Rose burg office. It is particularly re quested, he slates, that long dis tance conversations be limited to a maximum of five minutes. The purpose is to speed traffic over congested routes, especially dur ing hours when demand Is heavi est. During such per iods of peak load, Ihe long distance operator will make the following request of telephone users: "Please limit your call to five minutes others are waiting.
