Already a number of men and women have registered for the new Red Cross Homo Nurslnn class, which will be started in this city soon, according to a re port made today by the commit tee. The class is still open, and all men and women desiring to take the course are asked to reg ister this week by calling either Mrs. G. C. Finlay at 650-J or Mrs. W. H.. Carter at 74B-J. - A large number of men in the Portland area have completed this course in Homo Nursing and interest has been shown by sev- , eral in Douglas county. Any man desiring to take the course need not feel that he will be the only man in the class, as several have already registered for this next class. Mrs. Laurance Lockwood most charm ingly entertained the Tenmile woman's club, the Community Circle, at her home on Wednes day afternoon. The afternoon was spent attending to various business matters and a "Labor Party," with Mrs. Minnie Lock wood as president arid Mrs. Min nie Mellius as vice president was formed of such members as wish to engage in relief work of any kind. Following the business meeting, music and visiting were enjoyed. Mrs. Lockwood served delicious refreshments later In the afternoon to Mrs- Rilla Hahn, president, Mrs. Ruth -Stevenson and Mrs. Hilda Stevenson of Happy Valley, visitors, Mrs. Min nie Mellius, Mrs. John Brown and Mrs. Harry Smith of Reston, Mrs. Charles Siegal, Mrs. Roy J. Car nal), Mrs. Minnie Lockwood, Mrs. Eva Lakey and two children, Conrad and Kay, Mrs. Leon Simp son and son, Dean, Mrs. Delia Howard, Mrs. Simpson, Sr., Mrs Elbert Smith, and the hostess, Mrs. Laurance Lockwood. The next meeting will be all day with a potluck dinner at noon which, will be served out doors picnic fashion (weather permitting). On Wednesday May 19, at the home of Mrs. Bert Mellius in Reston, Mrs. Mellius will be as sisted by Mrs. Harry Smith and Mrs. John P.- Brown. The newly organized "Labor party" plan to tie a ;comforter, to hold' in readi ness for any needed purpose, the ones already on hand having been given to a member who lost her homo recently by fire. ROSEBURO WOMAN'S CLUB ANNUAL PICNIC TO BE HELD NEXT TUESDAY The annual Installation of new officers for the Roseburg Wo man's club will be held at a de lightful one-thirty o'clock potluck luncheon next Tuesday, May 18, in the beautiful garden at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ml celli on the Melrose road. AH members are urged to at tend tbje affair, as the picnic closes the club year and there will be no further meetings until the first Tuesday in October. Members are requested to bring either' a covered dish or a salad for the picnic luncheon and are also asked to bring their own sandwiches and table service. Mrs. Harry F, Hatfield, retir ing president, will be in charge of the meeting Mrs. Mlcelll will be general chairman of the affait with Mrs. Foster Butner, Mrs. Harry F. Hatfield and Mrs. G. V. Wimbcrly, asisting. Mrs. G. V. Wimberly will be installed as new president of the club. All members arc urged to enjoy this delightful annual af fair. SUNSHINE CLUB HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING ' AZALEA, May 11 Mrs. H. H. Waltermire and Mrs. Henry Gae- deckc were joint hostesses for the Sunshine club at the home of Mrs. Waltermire Thursday after noon. A short business meeting was held after which games wcro en joyed. "Spoons" was the main diver sion of the afternoon with Mrs. John Feldmlller winning the high score prize and Mrs. J. T.
