Missioner From China to Speak at Nazarene Church The Rev. G. W. Royall, Toron to, Canada, who has Just return ed from occupied China, will be guest speaker in a special mis sionary rally at the Roscburg Church of the Nazarene, 400 E. Douglas street. Feb. 1, 7:30 p. 111. it was announced by the pastor. Rev. Leonard Hannon. The Church of the Nazarene in Chao Cheng, Shantung province, China, where Rev. Mr. Royall and his family spent the past five years, was one of more than a hundred American church proper ties destroyed by Japanese bombs. The Hev. Mr. Royall has a sliver from a fivc-hundrod pound bomb that destroyed the church of which lie was pastor. At the outbreak of hostilities in the far east, the missionary was mistaken by Japanese mili tary leaders as a Russian spy. On another occasion, lie was held a prisoner for nineteen days on a British coastal steamer outside the Port of Tientsin, when a chol era quarantine was enforced by the Japanese. Hev. Mr. Royall is the author of several books, including "Enemies of the Middle King dom", ".Missionary Missiles", and "'Chinking Yellow". His contact with the missionary forces of Japan, witli Chinese government officials, and with tiie red anhy will add interest lo the address to lie heard in this city. '3 News of Men t Douglas County In War Service Louis Pillard, Jr., son of Major and Mrs. U A. Pillard of Kose burjj, has been advanced to first lieutenant in the U. S. army, according to word received here today. He now Is stationed at Riverside, California, and is as signed to duty with the quarter master department. His father, a Roscburg dentist, recently called from reserve status to active du ly with the army dental corps, now is at Camp Cook, Califor nia.
