DOROTHY CASEY HA8 DELIGHTFUL PARTY ON TENTH BIRTHDAY Dorothy Casey celebrated her tenth birthday anniversary at a very charming party at the home of her mother, Mrs. C. M. Mc Dermott, on East Cass street Mon day afternoon at three o'clock. The occasion also marked the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Perry Smith, who was a guest of the afternoon. Lovely gifts were presented to Dorothy and the afternoon was enjoyably spent In playing games, after which Mrs. McDermott, as sisted by her sister, Mrs. Edward P. Burke, of Portland, and Mm Albert Flegel served lovely re frcshments. The table was beautifully deco rated in a pink and blue motif, while the centerpiece was an at tractive arrangement of yellow and pink zinnias. Large bouquets of zinnias were used about the rooms. Tipton and Mrs. TraviJ as hostesses. ROSEBURG REBEKAH LODGE HAS INTERESTING MEETING TUESDAY NIGHT Roseburg Rebekah lodge No. 41 met Tuesday evening at the I. O. O. F. hall with the Noble Grand, Velma Herman, presiding. The lodge voted to purchase a war bond and two applications for membership were received. Plans were outlined for'the Au gust 25 social meeting and the following, committees were ap pointed: entertainment, Ethel Bailey, Ina Farnsworth and Elma Stephens. Refreshment; Norma Waltermire, Ruth Dishman, Ellen Gordon, Minnie Noycr and Glenn Wilson, and decorations, Mayme Hudnell, Ma!ry Decker and Ef fle Srubblefield. The visiting com mittee appointed for the month Included: Margaret Casebeer, Mabel Wilson and ZcIIa Brooks. Following the business session, a very beautiful and impressive obligations ceremony was exem plified. Ethel Bailey announced that a special surprise feature or enter tainment would be presented at every meeting and a prize would be given the member presenting the best program for the year. Forty-four members were pres ent and guests included; Delia Hutchfngs and Minnie Bradley both members of Roseburg lodge who are now residing in Port land; Ruby E. Tucker, Woodvine, Iowa; Laura Riddle, of Riddle lodge, and Vivian Logsdon and Alice Bailey, Portland lodges. At the close of lodge, the de gree staff practiced. COUNTRY CLUB LADIES TO PLAY FINALS IN TOURNAMENT THURSDAY The finals of the summer han dicap golf tournament will be played next Thursday morning by the ladies of the Country club at the club course. Potluck lunch eon will be served at 12:30 and the weekly contract bridge tour nament play will open at 1:30 o' clock. Matches in the summer handi cap golf tournament were play ed Thursday morning of this week, after which the potluck luncheon was enjoyed at the clubhouse. Mrs. L. E. McClintoek, captain, presided over the busi ness session, after which contract bridge was enjoyed with Mrs. Arnold Davis winning the high score and Mrs. C. E. Wimberly winning the second high score. A lovely basket dinner was en joyed at one o'clock after which the usual business meeting was conducted. The officers elected were: president, Finis Rose; first vice-president, Bryan Rose; sec ond vice president, Mildred Rose White; secretary, Violet Rose Newberry; treasurer, Mrs. I. L. Thompson, and historian, Mrs. J. F. Rose. Those enjoying the affair were Franklin Rose, Corvallis, Ore.; J'. Leach entertained at a charming party Friday after noon at her home on Winchester street in compliment to her daughter, Joan's, sixlh birthday. The afternoon was spent in tak ing pictures and playing games with prizes being awarded to each little guest.
