Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brock of Walton, Oregon, spent the week-end at the Ray Hoyt home south of town. Mrs. Brock is a sister of Mr.Hoyt. . Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wahl and daughters, Patsy Lou and Bonnie, and Miss Pauline Trozelle spent the week-end with relatives and friends at Gaston, Oregon. Miss Patsy remained there to pick berries. Dickie Cloud left Saturday for Roseburg where he will spend the summer vacation with his father, Lynn Cloud. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kennedy of Rcedsport spent Memorial day here with relatives. Mrs. Florence Goff and daught er Iris of Eugene were here over Memorial day. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crow and daughter, Melvagene, of Portland are visiting at the home of Mrs. Crow's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Keith. Bill Tedd of Oregon City arriv . ed Sunday for a few days' visit with his brother, Robert Jedd, seventh and eigth grade teacher here. They will both return to their home at Oregon City. Ray Hoyt has purchased the j - Walter Babcock home east of . town and will make extensive im provements to the property. Miss Delight Heath left Sunday for her home in Salem following ' the close of school Friday. Mrs. Cora Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Dee Atterbury and son.Gor don, drove to Cottage Grove last Wednesday to visit Claude Allen, who was operated upon recently for ulcers. Mr. and Mrs. Art Drulinger and daughter, Burma, of Berkeley, California and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Witcher of Vallejo, California, visited over the week-end at the home of Mrs. Cora Allen. Sylvester Pelland of Klamath Falls arrived here .the end of the fcweek to attend the funeral, Mon '''day, of Mrs. John Plueard. and Frank Hunsaker from Glen dale and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Curtis and sons, Lee and Robert, spent the holiday week-end at Klamath Falls and Crater Lake returning home Sunday evening by way of Medford. o Azalea AZALEA, June 4 Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Livingston and Mrs. Mable Livingston spent the holiday week-end at Diamond lake. Mrs. Rodney Smith, Mrs. Hal bert Booth and Mrs. D. H. Clare shopped in Roseburg Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wilson and children moved to Roseburg last week where they will make their home. Mrs. Ralph Brady and Opal Eastman left recently for Eueene where they wiffseek employment. Ted McPherran was a Roseburg business caller Wednesday. Mrs. John Jantzer, Mrs. Ben Jantzer and Mrs. Stanley Jantzer and son, Johnny, shopped in Grants Pass Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hill visited over the week-end at Shasta City, Calif.,with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. William Jantzer and sons, Billie and Jackie, made a business trip to Grant Pass Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cooke at tended the memorial day services at Yoncalla Saturday. They also visited friends at Drain. Mr. and Mrs. Ora Condray and children, Colleen and Richard, visited over the holiday week-end at Oregon City with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cbndray. They were accom panied home from Salem by Beverly Johns, who will spend several weeks visiting her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Farnam. Mrs. John Jantzer and Mrs. R. C. Johns spent Saturday after noon at Wolf Creek. Mrs. Ella Leach shopped in Grants Pass, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Adams and children. Ila and Billie, arrived here Monday afternoon from Redmond and will spend several days visiting Mrs. Adam's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tripp. They were accompanied by Mrs. Adams sister, Miss Doris Tripp, and Miss. Edna Mische who have been visiting in Redmond for two weeks. Mrs. Russell Hill made a trip to Grants Pass Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Howard of Eddyville attended the commencement ex ercises here Wednesday night. Their daughter, Erlene Howard, was one of the graduates. Mrs. Nettle Powell of Bakers vllle, Calif., is visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Angst, for a couple of weeks. Harry Beake of Marshfield spent several days here last week renewing old acquaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Merk of Seattle, Wash., returned home Friday after Spending two weeks here visiting at the Fred Merk home. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Davis and Mrs. Rosa Thompson and son, Gary, of Albany spent the week end visiting at the Sam Walkin shaw home.. Mr, and Mrs. James. Howard, who have lived in Cottage Grove all winter, moved here last week. Mr. Howard grades lumber for the Kruse Lumber Co. David Kunz of Lakeview visited his mother, Mrs. George Kunz, who has been seriously ill at her home. She is much Improved. Mrs. Ash left Friday for a month's visit with relatives in Oregon City. Mrs. Frank Madden spent sev eral days last week with her daughter in Monmouth. Mrs. B. E. Bolton of Los An geles is visiting at the B. F. Rob erts home en route to Lewiston, Idaho. Miss Dell Madden of Portland spent the week-end here with her parents. Mrs. Lauren Forbes recently from Vancouver, Wash., is visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neno Perini, for a few days, en route to Medford where she will spend f he summer, i;- Mrs.: SOrnnef Brawn and son, Richard, and Mrs. Homer Kruse, spent Tuesday and Friday last week in Albany. Friday they met relatives from Astoria for a fam ily reunion. Mrs. Lillis Brawn spent last week with relatives in Harris burg. Sunday she attended the re union of the Moody family. Mr. and Mrs. Wllmer Griest and son of San Diego, Calif., ar rived here Wednesday to takp possession of the Melvin Howard ranch, which they recently pur chased. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hunter and two daughters left Saturday for Gresham where they will visit Mr. Hunter's parents for a week. They will go to Eugene in the near future, where Mr. Hun ter will go to summer school. Mrs. Marvin Helland left Fri day for Salem where she will join her husband who is with the Oregon forestry department. Sun day, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stenseth motored to Salem to attend the first wedding anniversary of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Helland. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lambdin and family left Sunday for Longview, Wash., where they will make their home. Merle Mulkey, who is with the U. S. navy at Seattle, Wash., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mulkey, at their home on Red Hill recently. Mr. and Mrs. George Wertz of loleclo were visitors at the Dare Kingery home Decoration day. Mr. and Mrs. Olger Helland are being congratulated on the ar rival of a nine pound daughter, born at the Sacred Heart hospital, Eugene, Sunday, May 31st. The baby is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stenseth, owners of the Red and White store. Cain warned Ta coma citizens yesterday against putting 12 per cent hydrogen per- oxide in their eyes, In case they were gassed, as recommended in a recent bulletin issued by the city. He said a bulletin of instruc tions on air raid precautions and first aid measures issued and paid for by Tacoma police and firemen recommended a 12 per cent solution in case a person got gas in his eyes. ' Cain said he had since learned that such a solution would de stroy sight and that no solution stronger than 0.5 per cent should be used. Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Haines and daughter, Frances, of Eu gene, were at the R. R. Wells home Saturday. Mrs. Thor Jensen and son, Jon. have gone to Corvailis to be with Mr. Jenson, who is working there. Mr. and Mrs. James Gates, Mrs. Edith Gates, Norma Gates, El ma Gates and Enua Gates went to Corvailis to attend the college commencement. Miss Virginia Gates, daughter of Mrs. Edith Gates, was one of the graduates. Miss Gates will teach in the Marshfield high school this fall. H. L. Bossen left Sunday for Vancouver, Wash., to work In the shipyards. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clemo went to Monmouth Friday to at tend the commencement of Le- nore Clemo. Bryan, whose name is legend in Nebraska poll tics, filed yesterday for the dem ocratic nomination for governor, an office he has held three times. Bryan, a brother of the late William Jennings Bryan and democratic vice-presidential nom inee in 1924, served several terms as Lincoln's mayor, and many of its stringent liquor regulations were enacted during his adminis tration. . - - Seaside were visiting last week at the homes of Charles Hargan, W.
