EDWARDS The present world war has seen some new and strange things. Not the least of these is the development of psycho logical warfare. Carefully plan ned suggestions of weakness, of doubt, and disloyalty have pro duced confusion among the enemy, and made attack from Without easy. In the World war I the Germans. used a tac tic they called "Schrdckle kite," which means to terror ize. This seems to be a modern adaptation of a method which Satan used from the begin ning. By suggesting he raised a doubt in the mind of Adam and Eve, hinting that God had art ulterior motive In forbid ding them to cat of the fruit of the tree In the midst of the garden. Satan is still at this subtle business. Evil is not really the menace that many Say it Is. Be modern In a mod ern World they tell us. Thou sands of young people fall for such suggestions. We can ig nore many of the old customs and not suffer. One does not need God and religion in this modern world. Thousands fall for this suggestion. Evil has his fifth columnists every where just now. Defense lines are seldom taken by frontal attack. They must first be weakened from within. Amen. Grove, spent Sunday at the L. Hancock home. Rev. and Mrs. M. H. Fox and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Haines Were Eugene visitors Tuesday. Mrs. Ida Thomas and Lawrence Thomas left recently for Seattle where Mr. Thomas Is working. Mrs. Thomas expects to stay for some time.
