Details of this plan have been worked out Jointly by L. C. Stoll, director of the federal employment service for Oregon, and W. L. Teutsch, assistant director of the federal cooperative extension service at O. S .C. A supply of farm labor ade quate to the production and har vesting of 1942 crops Is recogniz ed as a major problem in the ful fillment of the. fodd-for-victory program in this state,'' said Teutsch in announcing the plan. "We hope that this plan will make use of the best local Judg ment available on this problem." Creation of a farm labor sub committee with a broad represen tative membership will coordinate the activity of the federal employ ment service, the county war board, the land ise planning com, mittee, and the agricultural plan', nlng committee, it is believed. In addition, It wilt give representa tion on the committee of the ma. jor commodities with large labor, requirements. Prooedure Outlined In each county the employment service, representatives and the county agent will agree on the nomination of the not more than three producers or processors pf farm products to serve on the committee. Ben with the chairman of the county USDA war board, and a member ' of the county agricultural plan ning committee, will constitute the farm labor sub-committee. Other such subcommittees air ready functioning in each county deal with land use, farm home and rural life, livestock, and crops. Every effort is being made to find the solution of the impend ing farm labor problem In the immediate communities rather than to depend on arrivals from distant points, it is pointed out. Movements now In progress to register potential farm labor from the schools and among the women are part of this general idea.
