Gustavo Cal l IJndner, 83, well, known resident of Riverside, died at Mercy hospital Monday night following a prolonged Illness, lie was born at Dresden, Germany, March 7, 1858, and came to the United States In 1883. He became ' a naturalized citizen of the Unit ed States a few years later. ""Ho" was married to Miss Lena Buegner, at St. Paul, Minn., in 1885. He came to Roseburg from Wisconsin about 25 years ago, Mr. Lindner was a member of the Lutheran church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lenu Lindner, of Roseburg, and three sons: George I). Lindner, Glencoe, Minnesota; William Lindner, Dodson, Montana, and Herbert W. Lindner, Great Tails, Montana. He is also survived by a sister, residing In Germany, and eight-grandchildren and three great grandchildren. ' - Funeral services will be held In the chapel of the Douglas Fu neral home Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Concluding serv ices and interment will be In the Masonic cemetery. Seven Men Killed in 3-Way Vehicle Crash VALLEJO, Cal., Jan. 13.-Seven men, five of them believed to be United States marines, were killed early Monday in a three way collision involving a passen ger car and two trucks. Five of the victims, those be lieved to be marines, were burn ed to death when the car in which they were riding burst in to flames after colliding head-on with a truck which also caught fire. U. S. Auto Tax Stamps Go On Sale This Week WASHINGTON, Jan. 13. (AP) Postoffices In many sec tions of the nation this week will begin selling federal auto tax stamps, which after February 1 will be required for legal opera tion of a motor vehicle. A stamp costing $2.09 will carry the motorist through to next July 1. Then a new stamp, costing 55, wil! be required for the ensuing 12 months opera lion. ' The internal revenue bureau, In speeding issuance on the stamps, said some points in the country could not be supplied im mediately. Internal revenue col lectors' offices also will dispense them.
