WHITE CAMAS VALLEY, Dec. 10-A very enjoyable shower party was held at the home of Mrs. Jack Parrott Thursday afternoon hon oring Mrs. Wilmcr White. Follow ing the games a table piled high with beautifully wrapped gifts was placed before Mrs. White, who unwrapped them and passed them on for the others to see. Later Mrs.' Parrott assisted by several other ladies served dainty refreshments. N. G. CLUB HAS INTERESTING MEETING SUTHERLIN, Dec. 10-The Past Noble Grand club met Wed nesday afternoon at the Methodist church parlors with Mrs. Savilla Hambcr and Mrs. Leona Slack as hostesses. ": They served an excei" lent one o'clock luncheon to Mrs. J John Saueerman, Mrs. John Cook, Mrs. Jack Culver, Sr., Mrs. Henry Barge, Mrs. Alma Anderson, Mrs. Ella Wegner, Mrs. Pearl Hand, Mrs. Ike Flannery, Mrs. Ifeel Green, Mrs. Cora Allen, Mrs. Ruth Manning, Mrs. Mildred Holman, Mrs. Charlottee Parker and Mrs. A. P. Slack, a guest. Mrs. Par ker's birthday was celebrated and later Christmas gifts were ex changed. It was decided by the group to give remembrances to ail shut-ins. Mrs. Ike Flannery won the penny prize. P. N. G. CLUB HAS INTERESTING MEETING RIDDLE, Dec. 10-.Mrs. Kirk Lawrence entertained the P. N. G. club at her home Thursday, I Nov. 27. Thirteen members and one visitor were present. The business meeting was conducted by Ann Worthington, president, and plans were made for the an nual Christmas party of the club which will be held the evening of Dec. 18 at the lodge hall. At the close of the afternoon the hostess serv ed a dainty tray luncheon. SUNSHINE CLUB HAS AZALEA, Dec 10. Mrs. Feldmiller entertained the John Sun- shine club at her home Thursday afternoon. A business meeting was held, presided over by the vice-president, Mrs. Henry Smith, due to tho absence of the president, Mrs. Cooke. The election of offi cers was held and Mrs. Walter Kemp was elected president and Mrs. Halbert Booth was re-elect ed secretary and treasurer. The vice-president and various com mittees will be appointed later. Reports for the past year were given by Mrs. Booth. Mrs. Tripp, chairman of the entertainment committee, asks each member to give their favo rite way of tieing Christmas packages.. Several birthdays occurred around the first of December, and little Sharon Caylor sang "Happy Birthday to You." At the usual tea hour delicious refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Smith, Mi's. Booth and Mrs. Jantzer. Guests enloying the afternoon were Mrs. Walter Kemp, Mrs. Jake Fisher, Mrs. Henry Gae decke, Mrs. Halbert Booth, Mrs. Henry Smith, Mrs. Frank Trlnp, Mrs. Frankie Schroeder, Mrs. John Jantzer, Mrs. Stanley Jant zer, Mrs. ChamD Johns, Mrs. For rest Farnam. HOME ECONOMICS CLUB TO MEET ON FRIDAY Riversdale grange home eco nomics club will meet at the hall Friday for a one o'clock potluck luncheon instead of meeting at the home of Miss Pearl Jones, as previously planned. A group of children gathered at the home of Mrs. J. J. Rathkcy Sunday and organized a club to be known as the "Jolly Juniors." LADIES AID HAS MEETING THURSDAY RIDDLE, Dec. 10. The ladles aid society met at the home of Mrs. Alfred Howard Thursday afternoon with Mrs. G. K. Grant assistant hostess. After the busi ness session the annual Christ mas package sale was held which added about three dollars to the aid funds. The hostess served dainty refreshments at the close of the afternoon. Mr, Oreenway is a former concert violinist and was an instructor for a number of years. Mrs. Greenway is an ac companist and harpist. They also will play the Theremin, a newly developed instrument which is played by the movement of the hands above it without being ac tually touched. Their 45-minute concert will include a number of violin and harp duets. Benefit Postponed Riversdale grange has postponed Its benefit five-hundred card party from next Monday night to the evening of January 5. This will be the clos ing party of the series of benefit affairs sponsored by the grange. S. weather bureau in Roseburg has been instructed to cease publication of statistics, it was announced today by J. C. Mc Calllster, meteorologist here. These statistics previously have been published daily In the News Review, but can no longer be sup plied by the weather bureau, Mr. MeCallister reports. Hall, navy recruiting offi cer, who arrived In Roseburg Tuesday on official duties, was suddenly recalled to Eugene last night and anticipated that he was being called back Into ac tive service. He had expected to be in Roseburg until Thursday. Hull reported that there had been a tremendous rush of volun teers for the navy throughout all pf Oregon. The recruiting officer, who had obtained only two hours of sleep since Sunday, handled approximately 20 applications for enlistment while In Roseburg yesterday.
