The freshmen gave a return party for the sophomores on the evening of October 21st. The room was beautifully decorated with crepe paper anii Jack-o-lan- H'lIIS. The girls formed a group, playing some games and the boys did the same. Following this, all joined together in a game of winkum, and another contest game. Jack Harding and his brother, Gerry, furnished mu sic for dancing, the former play ing the piano and the latter a drum. Later refreshments were serv ed by the freshmen. Those attending the party were Mr. and Mrs. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Sting, Mr. and Mrs. JMoore, Mr. and Mrs. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Church, Mrs. Crouch, Everett Church, John Church, Victor Standley, Marilyn Baker, Annetta Barnhart, Fran ces Church, Muriel MeFall, Mar della Packard, Earlamae Pal mer, Juanita Fteetz, Oliver Stand ley, Phillip Watkins. LADIES CIRCLE HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING GLENDALE, Oct. 27. The la dies' circle of the Baptist church mot at the home of Mrs. R. A. Cox Friday, and the day was spent in quilting a quilt. A pot luck dinner was served at noon to Rev. and Mrs. Cox, Mrs. VV. B. Poole, Mrs. H. P. Reed, Mrs. Delia Dark, Mrs. Dora Harper, Mrs. E. W. West, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Ward Troxel, Mrs. W. T. Harbour, Mrs. R. B. Gardner, Mrs. George Smith, and Lois Ma- )rle Cox. Those who came in the afternoon were Mrs. Frank Bar ton and Mrs. John Thomas. On Monday the same ladies gathered again to quilt. The next meeting will be October 31. FOG DELAYS HUNT FOR TWO PLANES IN CANADA AREA VANCOUVER, B. C, Oct. 25 (AP) Tog today delayed an air sparch for two privately owned aircraft missing along the British Columbia coast. One of the planes was carry ing a California mining magnate from Hyder, Alaska, to Albert Bay, B. C, and the other a Port land business man to Ketchikan, Alaska. Pilot for the mining man. Liv ingston Wernecke of Berkeley, Calif., was Chuck Groptis of San Francisco. Bud Bodding of Seat tle piloted the craft in which Har y Sherman of Portland was fly ing to Ketchikan. MRS. BATES HOSTESS AT SUNDAY DINNER GLENDALE, Oct. 27. Mrs. Mattie Bates was hostess Sunday at a one o'clock dinner at the Glendale hotel in honor of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Payton. who were leaving that day, and it was also Mrs. Payton's birthday. The table was decorated with chrysanthemums and place cards. The guests present besides the honor guests were Paul Eldridge, Mrs. Ella Leach. Mrs. J. K. How ard, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cook and Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Culbert son. MRS. T. O. KENT IS HONORED ON BIRTHDAY A group of neighbors and 'friends called at the home of Mrs. T. O. Kent on South Main street to surprise and honor her on her birthday anniversary. A lovely gift was presented to Mrs. Kent from Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Healy, Mr. and Mrs. W. ASHER AGEE HONORED ON BIRTHDAY GLIDE, Oct. 27. Mrs. Asher Agee was most happily surprised on Saturday evening when some fifty-four friends and neighbors gathered to celebrate her birth day anniversary at her home. During the evening visiting and games were enjoyed and beauti ful gifts were presented to the guest of honor. Lovely refreshments were served at the close of the eve ning when a large birthday cake, made by Mrs. W. F. Price was lighted and the good wishes were presented to Mrs. Agee. Mrs. Ed na Adams graciously entertained the pinochle club at a lovely 1:30 o'clock salad luncheon Wednes day at her home. A candy sale will be held In connection with the party, the proceeds to go to the educational fund of Job's Daughters. CAMP AND AUXILIARY HAS HALLOWE'EN PARTY George Slarmnr camp and aux iliary to U. S. W. V. held a de lightful costume Hallowe'en party Thursday evening at the armory, which was enjoyed by 35 mem bers. A grand march was held, after which the members unmasked and games and dancing were en joyed, after which refreshments, carrying out the Hallowe'en mo tif, were served. The camp and auxiliary enjoyed the social so much that a similar social affair will be held in the near future. MRS. WEST GIVES S. S. CLASS PARTY GLENDALE, Oct. 27. Mrs. E. W. West entertained her primary Sunday school class with a wien er roast in the yard of her home Thursday evening. The evening was spent in playing games and visiting. The class members pres ent were Marjory and Michie Wolley, Billy Copper, Betty Rose Reek. Wanda, Georeie Ellen, John Archie, Betty Lou, and Cur lis West. CATHOLIC BENEFIT TO BE OCTOBER 28-Z9TH Tuesday evening, October 28th, marks the opening of the first showing of the Catholic benefit entertainment to be held at 8 o'clock at the parish hall on North Kane street. . Miss Helen Casey will present the one-act comedy, "The Wed ding," and will entertain with a group of comic songs. Mrs. Har ris Ellsworth will present a pan tomime feature number and the students of the school, under the direction of Mrs. Paul Jenkins, will present a dance number. A candy sale will be held and re freshments will be sold. The en tertainment will be presented for a second showing at the parish hall Wednesday evening, Octo ber 29, at 8 o'clock. LADY LIONS TO MEET TUESDAY EVENING The Lady Lions will meet Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. D. W. Helli well on South Kane street with Mrs. C. M. McDermott as assist ing hostess. The members will spend the evening sewing. Miss Lorraine Larsen and George Smith were married in Vancou ver, Wash., Tuesday, October 14. The bride's father, Rev. L. E. Lar sen officiated at the service. The bride wore a blue and brown suit with a corsage of rose buds. Those present for the wedding were Mrs. L. E. Larsen, mother of the bride, Mrs. L. B. Larsen, grandmother, Mrs. S. C. Larsen, an aunt, and Miss O'Dell Larsen, the sister of the bride. The young couple will make their home in Glendale, at the El don hotel. Back From Vacation Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Rand and son, John, have returned to their home here, following a two weeks' vacation in Castle Rock, Wash., visiting Mrs. Rand's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McGaughey, who are build ing a new home there. Mr. Rand has returned to his work In the forest service office here.
