Self-Respect
NEW YORK - Seventy-year-old
Morris Rudin, told by two ban
dits to put his hands up, obliged
by knocking one of the men on
his ear after taking his gun.
Although the bandit retrieved
his weapon and beat Rudin on
the head, the aged storekeeper
stubbornly fought back until the
two men fled his l:noicum shop
empty-handed.
"It wasn t tne money I was
fighting for it was m' self-respect,"
explained Rudin to police.
No Vocation
WABASH, Ind. - School chil
dren all over Indiana started a
two-day vacation today because of
teachers' convention in Indianap
olis. But eight boys in, Lincolnville
high school didn't.
School officials said they'd
damaged the building and
grounds in prc-Hallowe'en pranks
and ordered them to put in the
two days making repairs.
Double Stymie
NEW YORK Two automobiles
collided on the 155th street via
duct. The drivers climbed out, argued
heatedly for a few minutes, then
walked away Irom the scene.
Mystified witnesses wondered
why.
A police check of the licenses
supplied the answer. Both cars;
were stolen.
