Mr. Clark cited numerous cases and exam ples of forged and altered bank checks. He explained how the va rious types of frauds are accom plished and told' how people who are called upon to cash checks may protect themselves against fraud. Roscoc Ball returned to his home here Friday after spending the past summer at the Midway islands. He was met in San Fran cisco' by his wife and his father, Elbert Ball, who returned hero with him. Mrs. C. E. Logsdon was hostess for the Thimble club last Thurs day afternoon. A pot luck lunch eon was enjoyed at one o'clock and sewing and visiting filled the afternoon hours. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cornutt Of Berkeley, Calif., stopped over here last Monday for a short visit with his sister, Mrs. Henry Rigs by. They also visited his father, J. M. Cornutt, and sister, Mrs. Courtney Townc at Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Cornutt, who were mar ried September 27, were on their honeymoon. The bride was Miss Betty Goefng Of Berkeley, Calif.
