McGaughey, of Castle Rock, Wash., were married at a very impressive ceremony Sunday af ternoon, August 17th, at three o'clock at the attractive home of the bride's parents on the North Umpo.ua river in Riversdale. Rev. Melville T. Wire, pastor of the Methodist church, performed the ceremony In the presence of relatives and a few close friend: of the couple. An Improvised altar was ar ranged for the ceremony, by the formation of a beautiful gladioli bordered lattice-work archway outlining the French doors in the living room. The doors were opened onto the terrace, showing a gorgeous view of the North Umpqua river and the attractive garden of the home as a back ground. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Frances Llntott played "Llebe st mum" and "To a Wild Rose" by McDowell, followed by Mrs. Hugh Whipple singing, "I Love You Dear" and "Because," ac companied by Mrs. Linlott. The piano was arranged on the ter race. With the opening strains of the wedding processional from Lohengrin's bridal chorus, the. bride, who was given in marriage by her father, met the bride groom at the improvised altar. At the close of the Ceremony, Mrs. Llntott played Mendelssohn's wedding recessional and during the reception played "Under the Leaves" by Thome. The bride was charming in a suit of blege wool w ith brown ac cessones ano a corsage oi nrown orchids. The bride's mother wore an attractive peach-colored chif fon flower crepe dress and a cor sage of gardenias and steph cnotis. Following the ceremony, a charming reception was held. The dining room flowers were from the gardens of Mrs. M. F. Rice and Mrs. T. R. Burr. The tea ta ble, covered by an exquisite cloth, was centered wilh a bowl of glad ioli, asters, petunias, Jasmine and baby's breath all in white, with matching white tapers and a beautiful three-tiered white dec orated wedding cake, which was cut by the bride and bridegroom. Home Wedding V 4 1 V4 McGaughey The bride was graduated from Roseburg high school In 1937 and attended University of Oregon, later working for the bureau of entomology and the last two years has been employed by the W. K. Striker and Henry Parsons company In Eugene. The bride groom was graduated from Rose burg high school In 1933 and was president of the student body his senior year. He Was an outstand ing athlete and won high honors j in fade events in the state and ranunuea nis recora in tracK events while a student at Univer sity of Oregon, where he was graduated in 1938. He is a mem her of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fra ternity. Since being graduated from the university, he has been employed as a service manager for the Firestone company In Eu gene and last November was chosen as the representative for Oregon of the company and was sent to the factory in the cast to take special training. He is now a first lieutenant in the U. S. army and will he stationed at Moffett Field, Calif. Following the reception, Lt and Mrs. McGaughey left for coast points on their honey moon, after which they will go to Moffett field to make their home. Mr. Goodman was born Sep tember 17th, 1870, in Bunkern county, Missouri and came to Oregon In 1874. Mrs. Goodman was born in 1873 in Weavers ville, North Carolina and came to Oregon In 1887. They were married at Oakland in 1891. Mrs. Goodman was Mary Emma Smith before her marriage. MRS. W. M. CAMPBELL ENTERTAINS PROGRAM COMMITTEE AT LUNCHEON Mrs. W. M. Campbell enter tained the members of the 1941 42 Roseburg Woman's club pro gram committee at a very charm ing One o'clock luncheon at her beautiful home on South Main street Tuesday afternoon. Pastel colored summer flowers graced the prettily appointed table, while large bouquets of mixed flowers were attractively ar ranged about the rooms. Covers were placed for Mrs. C. E. Roberts, Miss Helen Casev, Mrs. Edward G. Kohlhagen, Mrs. Frederick J. Porter and the hos tess, Mrs. Campbell. During the afternoon hours the committee outlined the program for the coming year of the Roseburg Woman's club.
