The next meeting will be on Wednesday afternoon, August 6, held at the church. All ladies are cordially invited to attend. - MISSIONARY SOCIETY HAS MEETING FRIDAY ' GLENDALE, July 30 The Missionary society of the Presby terian church met at the home of Mrs. Melvln Nye Friday after noon at two o'clock. The subject of the afternoon was on the "Sill man University" in China. Mrs. R. D. Sorrels and Mrs. Roy Cunningham each gave reports on it, covering different parts. Mrs. Nye gave a report on what the missionary society had done in the past year. Those present were Mrs. Nye, Mrs. Cunningham, Miss Leulla Cunningham, Mrs. Sorrells, Mrs. Les Normoyle, Mrs. R. B. Gard ner, Mrs. Wm. Wunsch and Mrs. Key. CARD PARTY TO BE HELD AT COUNTRY CLUB FRIDAY NIGHT Mrs. Edward G. Kohlhagen and Mrs. A. C. Anderson, joint chair men, and their committees arc busy this week making arrange ments for a delightful card party to be held Friday night, August 1, at 8 o'clock at the Roseburg Country clubhouse, which all members of the club (both men and women) are cordially invited to enjoy. Contract bridge will be in plav and prizes will be awarded. Fol lowing the card play, refresh n.ents will be served. Rand at 812 Hoover street. Mrs. Edwin Rand and Mrs. El- ward Smith will assist Mrs. C. K. Rand as hostesses for the meeting. WAR RELIEF GROUP TO MEET THURSDAY Mrs. Annie L. Russell, chair man of the War Relief Sewing club, has invited all persons in terested in helping with this most worthwhile work, to meet with the club Thursday after noon at two o'clock in room -123 in the Perkins building. RIVERSDALE GRANGE TO MEET ON FRIDAY Riversdale grange will hold an important meeting Friday eve ning at 8:15 o'clock at the hall and all members are urged to be present. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Hess, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Schnei der and Mr. and Mrs.- Peter Sin clair will have charge of the re freshments. LOCAL NEWS Moving Household Goods Mrs. Margaret Price, who was recently transferred from Carr's Variety store here to the position of manager at the Bandon store, has been spending the last couple of days here making arrange ments for sending her household goods to Bandon. She returned to the coast yesterday. Will Enjoy Vacation Miss Ila Laubach and her uncle, C. E. Mansfield, and Mrs. Irvin Brunn, of this city, and the latter's son, Irvin, from Camp Grant at Rockford, HI., plan to leave to morrow for the coast to spend the remainder of the week enjoy ing a vacation. S. government defense savings bonds, was handed over recently by Ralph M. Osvold, Port land (left), trustee of the Odd Fellows lodge of Oregon, to W. L. J. Davies, vice-president of the United States bank. Income from the bonds goes solely to help maintain the Odd Fellow and Rebekah home for the aged and for orphaned children In Oregon, for which a trust fund of over $1CO,000 has been accumulated during the past 20 years. Olson and the for mer's mother, Mrs. Olson, Sr., have left for their home in Los Angeles, following a visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Gus A. Lind bloom at Dlxonvllle. They were accompanied back to Los Angeles by Mrs. Olson, Sr.'s, sister, Mis. Lindbloom, who will spend len days there visiting her mother, who will celebrate her 83th birth day anniversary in a few (lays.
