TWO Yankees Increase League Lead By Blasting Indians By UUDSON BAILEY ( Associated Press Sports Writer) The latest report on the major leapue races is that they prob ably are koHir to follow the same pattern that everybody was accustomed to before last year. The New York Yankees are right on the verge of running away from the rest of the Ameri can league while the National league is in the throes of another one of those push-anil pull strug cles that very likely may last right down to the finish in Sop tomber. The Yankees blasted out a 10 3 victory over the Cleveland In- dlans yesterday in the first tussle of their three-game clash and cleared up most of the doubt about their being the best club In the league. With Joe DiMaggio hitting double and two singles to stretch his hitting streak to 5fi consecu tive games, and Keller smashing out a triple and his 2l)th home run of the year, the Yankees rode rough shod to their eighth tri umph In 11 games against the In dians this season and increased their first place margin to six lull games. On the other hand the Brooklyn Dodgers, who had a chance to bottle up the senior circuit Just as completely, were raided 7-4 by the St. Louis Cardinals and had their lead cut to three games last night.
