Too often we allow our faith and our rejoic ing to be conditioned by many demands and circumstances. Did you ever read what Ha bakkuk included in his catalog of disasters? Everything on Which his people depended for their livelihood and physical happiness yet he could praise God after all those things were gone. That is the only kind of faith worth having. A faith that reaches out to believe that even if God's purposes for our good aro momentarily defeat ed. Ho can turn defeat into vic tory; that if we could see the end from the beginning all things do work together for our good. If we cannot see light beyond disaster, if wo cannot answer the reasons for trials and sorrows, let faith lake us soaring on her wings over and above all our disas ters into the light of God's presence. Then like the pro phet and the apostle we shall be able to rejoice only a faith which can rejoice in the face of loss and distress is large enough to meet our need. Amen.
