EDWARDS Of all the parables that Jesus spoke the most difficult to understand for the average reader is that of the "Unjust Steward." This parable has baffled many Bible students and led some of them into strange bypaths. This parable tells of a steward or overseer who had grown careless and was about to lose his position. Facing a crisis, he used his wits and feathered his nest by a clever, though dishonest practice. He called on his em ployer's creditors and dis counted heavily what they owed him, thus making the creditors his friends, from whom he would expect favors when his position was gone. Jesus commended the unrigh teous steward because he had done wisely, for the sons of this world are wiser in their generation than the sons of light. Jesus Instanced the fore sight of this dishonest steward as worthy of the consideration of those who are committed to standards of honesty and wholesome living, but fail to function successfully. He used It as u sort ot a rebuke to the good citizen who fails to do his duty and yet pretends to the world lo assume his re sponsibility in life. They have moved to Canyonville to make their home. Mrs. Coin was accompanied here by her broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Vaughn, also of Bruce. On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ooin, the former a brother ot Dan Goin, who also live in Wis consin arrived here Monday to visit at the Dan Goln home. They, were accompanied west by Billio' Grubbe. The entire! group left the east today but due to a traf fice accident near Red Oak, Iowa, several days delay was experienced by those in the party last arriving. Thev came by way of Sterling, Colo., Boise, Idaho, and the McKenzic Pass, a twenty-six hundred mile trip in all. Dan Goin and his broth er, Clyde, had not seen one an other for thirlylthree years. Mr. and Mrs. John Clifton, who for several years have been mak ing their home on upper Days creek have moved to Brookings to reside, having recently sold their properly here lo Julio Met al of Los Angeles. Mrs. Jack Ulam and son, Owen, are visiting at the home of the former's aunt, Mrs. Wal ter Poole. Mr. Ulam has gone to the Railroad Gap lookout for Ihe fire season. They recently returned here from Grants Pass where they had been residing for several months. Mrs. Mai'y Barrett of the coun ty health unit was attending to business matters here Monday afternoon. Mrs. Glenn KunUle is spending a week in Roseburg where she is leceiving medical attention.
