Josef Hofmann, world famous
pianist, presented David Smith,
Jr., with a special award June
21, 1941, in Los Angeles, where
David was proclaimed the most
promising young pianist of the
century. .
Deanna Durbin was presented
with an award for being the
most promising young singer of
the films, Jeanette McDonald for
the best woman's voice, Nelson
Eddy for the best man's voice,
and Allen Jones for the most
popular singer. All artists re
ceived their awards in person at
the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles.
Due to Illness of Josef Hofmann
his son, Anton, made the follow
ing presentation remarks to David:
