R. held a special meeting Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Bell with Mrs. Ray S. Petrequln, regent. In charge. Plans were outlined for the district meeting to be held In Roseburg, Thursday, June 19, be ginning at 3:30 o'clock at the Ho tel Umpqua, followed by a six o' clock dinner, program and round table discussion. On Friday, June 20th, the state board meeting will be held at nine o'clock at the Hotel Ump qua. State officers, state chair men and regents of chapters In the state will make their annual reports. Following the special meeting Saturday Mrs. Petrequin and Mrs. L. E. Goodbourn served lovely re freshments to Mrs. W. M. Camp bell, Mrs William Bell, Mrs. Roy Entler, Mrs. George M. Brown, Mrs. D. N. Busenbark, Mrs. C. P. Cayler, Mrs. William McGee, Mrs. R. H. Grlnsted, Mrs: F. H. Churchill and Miss Adeline Stew art. Miss Stewart represented the D. A. R. at the last American citi zenship naturalization class at the courthouse and presented man uals to the new citizens. CAMP FIRE GIRLS TO REGISTER TODAY AND TUESDAY AT C. OF C. Registrations for the annual summer camp for Camp Fire Girls will be held open today and tomorrow, June 16 and 17, at the Roseburg chamber of commerce office. All camp fire girls plan ning to attend camp are urged to register, so that final plans can be made by the committee heads for the camp. The 1941 summer camp prom ises to be unusually interesting and elaborate plans are being made by the committtee heads for nn unusually enjoyable two weeks for the girls. ART AND EMBROIDERY CLUB TO MEET " The Roseburg Art and Em broidery club will meet Wednes day afternoon at a one-thirty o' clock potluck luncheon at the home of Mrs. A. M. Neal. The Women's Society of Christ ian Service enjoyed a day's our Ing on Thursday as the guests of Mrs. Katherine Cory at Calla han. The ladies 'assembled early in the morning at the home of Virgil Lynn in Melrose from where they were transported by Mr. Lynn in his school bus to the home of Mrs. Corv. The proup stopped at the Landers lookout to eniov the view from that point, which due to the clear day was excellent. Arriving at the Cory home about noon, they were greeted by Mrs. Cory, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Jacoby of Lookingglass, who are spending a few days with their daughter, together with their grandchildren, David, Mildred and Lorraine Jacoby. Mrs. Cory served the guests a delicious fried chicken dinner with strawberry shortcake with berries from her field which is lust coming into full bearing. The afternoon was spent in vis iting and strolling through the beautiful groves . adjoining the place which were gorgeous with rhododendrons in full bloom. At three o'clock the return trip was started with each lady bearing a huge bouquet of rhododendron blossoms. One group of the guests walk ed with Mrs. Cory the short dist ance to the Callahan school house which is a very fine structure lo cated in a beautiful grove. Mrs. Cory teaches the school which averages from ten to twelve pu pils. The ladies enthusiastically expressed a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. Cory for her de lightfully generous hospitality. Going from Lookingglass for the day were: Mrs. John Baker, Mrs. Ernest Peterson. Mrs. A. M. Rob inson, Mrs. I. B. Howard, Mrs. O. G. Houser, of Salem, brought her two sons, Rodney and Douglas, to Roseburg Saturday for the latter two to remain for a week with their paternal grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Houser. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Houser are moving from Salem to Eugene, where Mr. Houser has been transferred as manager of the Western Auto Supply store. Miss 11a Laubach and her uncle, C. E. Mansfield, of Rose' burg brought Miss Bertha Lary to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wheeler, where she visited for a couple of hours, until her friends returned from a business trip to Coqullle and took her back to Roseburg with them. Miss Lary has just finished her fourth year of teaching at Redmond, Ore., and is returning there to teach again next fall. Mr. and Mrs. Wavne Martln dale left last week for Portland where they expect to work dur ing the summer.
