BANQUET IS ENJOYABLE AFFAIR ELKTON, June 5.-The high school was the scene Saturday! evening of a very pleasant affair when the junior-senior banquet was held. The ladies of the Methodist rhurch served the supper with some of the high school girls wailing on table. The tables were very pretty with flowers, favor cards and colorful stream ers. Mrs. Ver non Gaedecke was very pleasant ly surprised on her birthday anni versary Tuesday evening when a group of people met there for an evening of bridge. S. National bank build ing. . The afternoon home nursing class members will take their examination at next Wednes day's meeting. The final meet ing of the afternoon class has been announced for June 18. WOMEN'S COUNCIL HOLDS MEETING ' DRAIN, June 3. The Women's council of the Christian church met at the home of Mrs. May Gardner. A luncheon was served at noon. Afterward a missionary program was given, with Mrs. Madden as leader. "China On the March" was the topic. Mrs. Vol- SKATING PARTY TO BE HELD FRIDAY The senior high and senior B. Y. P. U. of the Baptist church will hold a skating party Friday night at the Rainbow rink. Mem bers are privileged to invite guests and be at the church at 7:15 and transportation will be furnished. No-Hostess Luncheon The Business and Professional Wo men's club will hold a no-hostess luncheon at 12 o'clock Friday at the Grand hotel. Jones, nee Patricia Mayo, has moved to Roseburg and Is working on the Douglas county welfare commission staff. Her husband will arrive here next week to make their home. Mrs. Jones formerly lived In Oswego and came to Roseburg a few years ago as a case worker for the welfare commission. At pres ent she Is visiting at the home of Miss Helen Falbe, who is also a case worker for the commis sion.
