IRONERS ' Bergh's, 630 Winchester, Ph. 80& DAILY DEVOTIONS Hi i' ' i. i . : .. : . DR. CHAS. A. EDWARDS Many centuries ago two men made a statement. One said "I have played the. fool' the other one said, "I have kept the- faith." These were' the epitaphs of two gifted men, each' bearing the name of Saul. Each ot these men made his statement as life was draw ing to a' close and he , was evaluating his career. "I have played the fool," was the sol emn finding of Saul, the first king of Israel. God had richly endowed him with the gifts and talents becoming a great king. A magnificent physique, a jovial personality, unbounded physical courage. All the at tributes ot a born leader yet, because of his inability to con quer himself, he was one of the greatest failures in history. Looking back over wasted op portunities and ungoverned impulses, he faces the bitter realization. "I have played the fool," "I have kept the faith," were among the last words of Saul of Tarsus. Looking through the bars of his Roman prison, as he reviews a... life filled with hardships and sac rifices, he awaits death with the calm assurance that al ways comes to him who keeps faith "with God, with his fel lowman, and with himself. To thine own self be true; and it must follow as the night the day. Thou canst not then be false to any man." Amen. I the fawns and let- the mother handle the situation.
