The high school class of the Church of Christ were guests at the party. WILLING WORKERS CLUB MEETS YONCALLA, May 6. The re gular meeting of the Willing Workers club of Scotts valley was held Wednesday afternoon at Victor hall, with Mrs. Minor Applegate hostess, assisted by Mrs. Mnnte Spalding. A short pro gram followed the meeting after which delicious refreshments were served to Mrs. Tom Wal lace, Mrs. Percy Applegate, Mrs. H. F. Wells, Mrs. Clair Thorn ton, Miss Gwendolyn Wheeler, Mrs. Clarence McKern, Mrs. Worth Woolman, Mrs. Byron Turpin, Mrs. Lester Wells, Mrs. John Potter, Mrs. Ernest Vro man, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Ralph Heath, Mrs. Ray Turpin, Mrs. Joe Collet's, Mrs. A. The 4-H camp cookery club of the Pleas ant valley school met at the home of Donald Kingery recently and cooked a delicious supper over an outside fireplace. Mem bers of the club enjoying the oc casion were Ross, Evelyn and Keith Colder, Jimmie and Rose Brant, Joyce Sheffel, Aleysenc Gibson, Mary Vian and the fol lowing guests, Miss Irene Mau pin, Mrs. Dare Kingery, Molly Lou Kingery and Mrs. Hallie Geider. MRS. WHIPPLE IS HOSTESS TO CLUB DRAIN, May 6. Mrs. Jim Whipple was hostess to the Study club Friday. A lovely 1:30 o'clock luncheon was served. Mrs. Bes sie Lakey gave a very interesting paper on "Music From the Cane brakes." Plans for next year's program were made. Those pres ent were: Mesdames Gardner, Lakey, Austen, W. Mrs. Loomls and Mr. Plowman are brother and sister of Mrs. Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Purves were en route to Powers, Ore., to attend the golden wed ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Purves. MR. AND MRS. JENSEN ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT OF DAUGHTER, CHRISTINE YONCALLA, May 6. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Jensen of Willamina announce the engagement of their daughter Christine Jensen of Yoncalla to Marvin Helland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stenseth of Yoncalla. The wedding will take place June 1 at Willamina. Miss Jensen has taught In the Yoncalla high school for a num bers of years. Mr. Helland Is employed with the forestry de partment at Roseburg. REBEKAH LODGE HOLDS MEETING CANYONVILLE, May G. At the regular meeting of the Rebe kah lodge here Tuesday evening, a birthday dinner was enjoyed honoring Walter Cornutt, of Un derwood, Wash., and Mrs. Anne Worthington, who has boon ap pointed as one of the assistants to the outside guardian, at the annual assembly at Baker the latter part of May. A gift was presented to each of the honor guests. KELLOGG KUMMUNITY '' KLUB HAS MEETING Thursday the Kellogg Kum munlty Klub ladies met at the grange hall In regular session with potluck dinner at noon. Aft er dinner the ladies pieced on the "Lovein-a-Whlrl" quilt which they plan to give awav at their annual bazaar next fall. ' After a short business session, and distribution of Pollyanna gifts, the many beautiful gifts brought for their club sister, Evelyn Powell, who became the bride of Housel Leon Elkins of Fallon, Nevada, on March 14, 1941, were admired. These gifts were turned over to Mrs. Perry Thiele, of Roseburg, who will pack them and forward to her sister with the best wishes of the K. K. K. ladles. Later lovely refreshments were served by President Anna Miggin b o t h a m and Vice President Blanche Bullock, to the 24 ladies and 9 children present. COUNTRY CLUB LADIES TO MEET ON THURSDAY The ladies of the Roseburg Country club will meet at an 8:30 o'clock pancake breakfast' at the I clubhouse Thursday morning to be followed by the golf play at nine o'clock. Yoncalla Women's study club met at the beautiful home of Mrs. Jess Lass well, Thursday afternoon, with Mrs. Sherman Chapman hostess. A dalntv dessert luncheon was served, with May Day motif. The rooms were decorated with artis tically arranged baskets of Iris and columbine. Mrs. Avery Lass well and Mrs. Leslie Chapman as sisted with the serving. Mrs. Earl Strong and Mrs. Ken neth Mulkey were elected to at tend the state convention of fed erated clubs, to be held at Cor vallis June 3 to 6. The program for study was Cuba.
