Police Inspector Sidney Du Bose, head of the crime preven tion detail, said neither the police nor the consulate regarded the threats seriously, but that the po lice would take no chances. He said Chancellor Herman Loeper of the consulate reported receiving two anonymous tele phone calls threatening to "bomb that place out on Jackson street," if the consulate moved in the face sailors, on leave and in plain clothes, ripped down the swastika flying from the tenth Xloor of fices. Du Bose headed a squad of 15 patrolmen guarding the old and new consulates while a number of police patrol cars watched trucks along the route. Gaylord McClelland, 53, brother of Mrs. Hazel B. Lytle, Douglas county health nurse. He died Monday at Stamford, Conn., and burial took place at Saranac Lake, old home of the family. Besides Mrs. Lytic, he is survived by two brothers, Charles L. McClelland, of De troit, Mich., and Thomas E. Mc Clelland, of Forest Grove, Ore. The Koscburg 'chamber of commerce, with the cooperation of the state department of voca tional education, is going to pinko a vigorous effort to correct this situation-particularly Inso far as those people who have most contact with tourists arc concerned. A "Tourist Informa tion School" has been planned. The purpose of the school, which will present experts on the var ious subjects, will be to provide those who have contact with the traveling public with complete, accurate Information about Doug las county. Details concerning the school will be published in this newspaper. There are thousands of Christians in China, and in Europe who are enduring great loss and pain. For them the present is any thing but satisfactory, but by faith they look forward with confidence to the promise of a better world when the will of God will bo done on earth as It Is in heaven. It would be sad Indeed If in Amorica with our great security '!and peace with the world, it 'our hope should burn less brightly than It does In those War stricken lands, that have been darkened by war and blood shed.
