While there Miss Margie who has been suffering from an attack of ap pendicltis received medical atten tion. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Stiltner were transacting business In Myrtle Creek Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Church of Camas Valley recently visited here at the home of Mrs. Church's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Duncan. While here they and Mr. and Mrs. Duncan nhd daughter, Marjorie, made a trip to the Tiller Trail summit. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamlin and their daughter, Mildred, and son, George, of Riddle, were recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Hamlin's mother, M r s. Dicga Tison, at Drew. Mrs. Tl son's son, Mose Tison. and Mr. Fehrer, both of whom live in Cot tage Grove, have also been guests at the Tison' home re cenlty. Mr. and Mrs, R. A. Moore and . Burrell Babb were business vis itors In Hoseburg Friday. Wednesday Mrs. Henry Brown had as her guests, Mrs. Oliver Bratton, Mrs. Harry. Downey, Mrs. Al Barrow and Mrs. Bill Jewctt, all of Drew. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hutchin son and Mrs. Roy Duncan and her daughter, Marjorie, were ' business visitors in Rnseburg Wednesday. Ermel Chancy, who hus been enjoying his spring vacation here has returned to Eugene where he Is a student at the uni versity. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Clark nnd Mr. and Mrs. Ira Brock were among those attending the re cent spring opening In Rose-, burg. While there they also en joyed the show at the Indian theater Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wright went to Cunyonvllle tvhere ithey were supper guesls nt the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Duncan. ' Pete Ulam, son of Mr. anil Airs. John Ulam, and a graduate of the local high school was among those leaving lloseburg early last week to enter military service, having volunteered for Mich duty some time ago. Victor Do Witt, also a graduate of the local school and I hp son ot Mrs. Elzer Rainvllle of Tiller, who was to have gone Into service at the same time received a defer ment at the last minute. He, how ever, exppcts to leace for duty at an early date. Mrs. John Ferguson returned home Monday from Umpqua where she had been visiting at the home of her son and datiglv ter-ln law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Fer guson, for the past week. She and her granddaughter. Meanwhile the U. S. will spend 17 billions or more, as is being budgeted for fiscal 1942. Claud Baker, educational ad viser at the South Umpqua Falls CCC camp, is spending a couple oi aays at nis home In Roseburg. Art Radlgan, a foreman at the camp, is In Medford convalesc ing from a recent illness. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fisher and their family and Mrs. Fish er's mother, Mrs. E. P. Ballou, all of Kelly's Korner, were Sun day visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Poole. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Welch, Guy Jacobs and Lennie Van Horn were transacting business in Roseburg Monday. Clyd le'iherage of Medfunl was an overnight guest at the Walter Hutchinson home Mon day. He left for coast points Tuesday morning. Frank Church of Camas Val ley was a visitor at the Howard Moore home Monday evening. David Crispen and his son, Damien, were Roseburg visitors Tuesday. They were en route to the coast where they expected to find employment. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Ulam were Roseburg visitors Saturday, the latter receiving medical attention while there. Dan Perdue and his brother, Ophir Perdue, were transacting business in Roseburg Saturday. They were accompanied far as Myrtle Creek by the latter' son, Blllle, who remained there to have some dental work done. T. L. Weaver, C. C. Hill and Jack Gaulke went to . Medford Monday evening. While there they attended a Masonic dinner. Don Hardin spent the Week end in Medford where he' repre sented the South Umpqua Falls CCC camp at the district boxing tournament. Mrs. John Montgomery and i children of Looklngglass were visiting friends here Saturday. They were luncheon guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hlggins. Later In the day they went to the Ray Wright home where they were Joined by Mr. Montgomery. They returned I home In the evening. Malnard Clifton, who has been radio operator at the Tiller CCC camp for the past several months has gone to Ashland where he has enrolled at the Southern Ore gon College of Education. The play by the student body of the local school last Friday evening was a decided success not only from the entertainment point of view but also financially. Dale Bellamy, mess steward it the South Umpqua Falls CCC camp, left Sunday for Camp Wlmer at Rogue River where he I will attend Cooks' and bakers' i school for the next two weeks. The ' Camas Valley A very Interesting evening was spent at the school house Tues day by those Who attended the weed conference. This meeting took the place of the usual grange meeting. Immanue! Stein, who has been working at the Beck sawmill, Was Injured last week and not able to work. He visited rela tives in Bandon while he was laid off. ' .Willis Cordor, who has been employed in a logging camp here has gone to Reeds port to work. . Ernest Hoar got a large sliver in one knee last week while working in the logging' woods for Harmson and Wakefield. The sliver was removed but the wound became Infected causing the workman to lay off for sev eral days. i- Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pullen and two daughters, Virginia and Jessie of Coqullle visited Sunday 1 ing day they went to Myrtle Creek where they attended Sun day school. Mrs. Barker is a sister of Mrs. Standley and Mr. Golgert. Mrs. Wesley Clark of Suther- lin, spent several days the last of the week at the home bf her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Baker. ' Mr. Huffman and sons, Am brose and Merle, of Olalla are building a barn for Mr. and Mrs. Baker. They are having it built on the south corner of their place across the river from the house. The high school students and several others enjoyed a skating party at the Tenmlle hall Friday night.
