Mrs. Jim Pickett and Mrs. Esther Thorpe were hostesses for the Sunshine club Thursday afternoon. Fancy work and visiting were enjoyed during the afternoon. The next meeting will be a pot-, luck and will be held at the home of Mrs. Halhert Booth. The occa sion will be the birthday anniver sary of Mrs. Booth. STUDY CLUB HAS MEETING TUESDAY CANYONV1LLE, Ore., April 7. - The Study club met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Charlie Young. Eight members were present. Mrs. Fred Cooper was in the chair. The lesson, "The Early History of Canyon ville," was given by Mrs. Edith Ackert, superintendent of the Canyonville Bible Academy. Of the many interesting facts she brought out. one was that Mrs. Barbara Hopkins was the mayor at one time, and was the first wo man in Oregon to serve as mayor of a city. She also said that Can yonville was the fourth oldest town in Oregon. The roll call was answered by the members telling their hob bies. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Max Kimmel. W. S. OF C. S. HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING CANYONVILLE, April 7. The Women's Society for Christian Service met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Barbara Hopkins. The president, Mrs, Frep Cooper presided over the business meeting. Mrs. Charlie Young had the devotional service. The society decided to hold a pro-Easter cooked food sale Sat urday, and the members were asked to donate the food to be sold. A potluck supper and a social evening was decided upon, to be held Friday evening at the Soulh Douglas community hall. Seven members and a guest, Mrs. Susie Burnett, of Oakland, Ore., were present. BRIDGE CLUB MEETS AT H. C. STEARNS HOME SUTHERLIN, April 7. The Sutherlin Bridge club met at the Harry Stearns home In Oakland Wednesday night. April 2. Con tract bridge was enjoyed through out the evening In rooms beauti fully decorated with large bou quets of apple blossoms. Clif ford Horner won first for the gents and Marlnrie Horner first for the ladies. The evening seem ed to be a lucky one for "the Horners" ns they n'so won the combined prize.
