ROSEBURG NEWS-REVIEW, ROSEBURG, OREGON, THURSDAY FEBRUARY 13. 1941. fIVE Douglas All-Stars Lose to Red Head Hoopsters 30 to 29 Local basketball fans saw an Interesting exhibition game at the senior high school gymnasium last night, as the Ail-American i Red Heads met the Douglas Coun ty All-Stars. The travelling girls team won the contest 30 to 29 af ter the All-Stars, holding a good led in the second half, slowed down their attack. While the girls were supposed to be the exhibition team, the All Stars demonstrated some fancy and trick ball handling of their own, with Jim Watts and Cliff A LOVE TOKEN FROM MR.HI TO ?nii uOOKSO . Particularly Interesting to watch was the long-distance bas ket potting by Smith and Hobbs of the Red Head team, and the fast baH handling by the entire squad. The All-Stars accommodated their pace to that of the girls and oermltted the score to be kept suf ficiently close to make a good contest. No attempt was made to call fouls on either team and the girls gave the fans . many good laughs by holding in tight plays and jump balls. Yoncalla Town Quintet Easy Victor Over Dorena YONCALLA, Feb. 13. The strong Yoncalla town team won an easy victory over the Dorena of 90 to 36. Led by Hassel and Homer Parks, the Yoncalla team piled up a 41-to-15 lead in the first half. Howard Parks, who was high point man with 29 coun ters, led the second half attack for Yoncalla. The Cougars open a two-game series with the Huskies tomorrow night. The Idaho Vandals start a road trip tomorrow, when they open a two-game series against Oregon in Eugene. In their previous en counter they handed the Webfoots a pair of defeats. The Vandals will move to Corvallls for games with the Oregon Beavers Monday and Tuesday. , They have not yet met the Beavers this season.
